I dont go on fighting them but i dont support them either. Frankly one even touched my private part, during public travel infront of everyone bcoz i refused to give money. It happens all the time.

If they want respect start working like others and stop harassing people, they have made their own image wrongly. First try to improve urself and then ask people to respect you. Simple and i dont feel like supporting 1% of society to bend themselves for such minority to please them. I m not going to rallies against them but i dont wamna support them either. I dont want to be such woke.

No problem with gays. Not harming me a bit. I have close friends who r gay. But nope i don't like trans people . Get some treatment for ur mental problems. Visit a doctor or something.

Omg plz get a science book from class 10 or something. Being trans is not a mental problem.

I cant believe i am reading this. These types of gender orientations are due to different karyotypes chromosomal abnormality or due to hormonal issue which has underlying genetic changes. It is scientific. Cant be changed.

Sigh.

No.

I can't believe I am reading this but none of what you said is scientific, there is no science behind karyotypes assosicating with gender identity or orientation

Oh wow. But not surprised at all. Even the so called 'woke' men and women of Twitter who supposedly champion so many of causes make fun of K-pop idols and have the vilest shit to say about their looks, 'masculinity' and sexuality... Just by looking at them. Western journalists from reputed prints have done this. Both the West and Desis are racist towards them and this is an extension of it.

I would never understand how someone can look 'gay'. They are better groomed, wear makeup and have soft features... And that automatically makes them 'gay'? Lol. People who think like that don't know a single gay person in real life,am positive. The East has 'soft masculinity' as opposed to the aggressive one elsewhere. But 'oh the boys wear makeup, the boys have colourful hair.. I pronounce them as gay!'

It's funny how one direction and 5SOS's crusty featureless non groomed hardly taking a shower ratasses are somehow still considered 'masculine' but K-pop idols are supposedly less masculine and more feminine ( stereotypical and said in a way that seems almost demeaning feminity) and just directly 'gay' just because they are well groomed, have softer and more angular features. LMAO.

What is even funnier is that even desis have had the chocolate boy era of soft masculinity (Esp India) in the 90s just like the flower boy era of Korea and Japan right now. Our stars weren't 'gay' but their idols surely are. Heights of hypocrisy 😆

Men have grabbed me in public transit even when I am minding my own business. Just standing there commuting like any other person. But for some reason, they felt the need to come close and try and feel me.

One transgender person does something inappropriate and people don't want to support them.

Thousands of men sexually assault and abuse women each day. Yet men freak out if anyone says even slightly critical against them. They immediately rally with "not all men" and "women can lie". Women become feminazis and anti-men for calling out misogyny. 🤔

I am against sexual assault, abuse, and inappropriate behavior. Period. It doesn't matter who does it. It is wrong. But I am not going to generalize and stop supporting entire identities just because one person did something wrong.

And nobody says all men have mental disorders for the behaviour of these thousands either. But when it's one trans person,it must apply to the entire community without fail. All of them are harassers with mental problems. Ironic.

Damn! The results of the poll. But 'kabhi kabhi kuch paane ke liye kuch khona padta hain.' Sometimes you have to be a lesser person to become a greater legend. 😎

----------

Bollywood has a history of homophobia and transphobia. It has often demonized LGBTQ folks or used them for comic relief. Some of the jokes are silly and harmless. But some others are deeply problematic and perpetuate stereotypes. There is a fine line. It takes a lot of time and effort to unlearn some stereotypes and assumptions that have become embedded in society as normal.

But Bollywood is changing. More movies and shows are being made with realistic LGBTQ characters. LGBTQ characters are getting more screen time and not being pigeonholed as sidekicks or comic relief. They are getting fleshed out narratives and plotlines too.

Even the forum has changed for the better. Once upon a time, it was highly toxic. Topics like this would get a significant number of anti-LGBTQ arguments. People would very passionately debate against homosexuality or transgender identities. Now the environment has changed. You see more supportive posts. Obviously, the attitudes haven't disappeared (as the poll shows). But at least they are not as visible or vocal anymore. With time both people and media will get better.

Hollywood used to be extremely homophobic and transphobic too. Even today it still crops up now and then, especially transphobia. Each passing day media is being held to higher standards of representation. The fabric of society too has changed. From an overwhelmingly anti-LGBTQ society in the Bush era, USA has become much more LGBTQ friendly. Despite a strong LGBTQ movement since Stonewall (1969), western society is still evolving.

The LGBTQ movement came to India very late and already it has made big strides. I'm optimistic that Bollywood and Indian society will continue doing better.

----------

Laughter is a gut reaction. Sometimes we cannot help but laugh at somethings no matter how inappropriate or offensive they are. I don't think laughing at something makes someone homophobic or transphobic or a bad person in any way. It is much more complex. It depends on people's awareness of the issues. What roles they play in propagating/promoting stereotypes. And how they treat LGBTQ folks when in real life situations that matter.

There's a lot of LGBTQ people who laugh at the Kantaben track or Dostana. Heck, I don't think Kantaben will ever stop being legend for me. 😆

Mainly - we should call things out when they are problematic. But I don't think cancel culture or broadly generalizing people is the right way to do it either.

If you had to pick just one Bollywood movie as your all-time favorite, which one would it be? And what makes it so special for you?
