Besides, I believe Aishwarya's script sense is a tad better than Kareena's so she'd have never done what Kareena did in her earlier movies.

I have to disagree here slightly. Yes the rumours were there, but they were there from Day One - when Kareena Kapoor had worked on Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in 1999 - yet they still signed many movies together. I do think the rumours played a small part in the reason they didn't work together for a while - but it was also attributed to the fact that all their films in which they were the lead stars had failed miserably commercially, even though their pairing was a hit with the audiences.

Remember they had both signed Dil Dhadakne Do and Shuddhi at one point, so they were ready to work again. The films didn't end up happening for various reasons.

"Script sense" is something we can use in hindsight, but is there that much of a difference between what the two of them were signing in 1999-2003? They have in fact been associated with/replaced with each other in at least 4-5 projects during that period.

And also, there were apparent rumours between Hrithik Roshan-Aishwariya Rai in the media during Dhoom 2 days - and that's when she was engaged to Abhishek.

Imagine the rumours when they were both much younger = more likely.

I am not saying since when they were rumoured to be having an affair - I couldn't care less about that. I was saying they stopped working due to personal differences, not due to professional reasons.

Kareena was the one who was eager to work with Hrithik again during Shuddhi. Hrithik never showed interest.

There were no rumours between Ash and Hrithik. It's just that the kiss onscreen was made controversial for TRPs.

Even Preity worked with Hrithik and there were no rumours. So why would there be rumours with Ash?

Hrithik was very much interested in DDD and Shuddhi - I don't see why one would choose to deny this.

Preity was working with him around the same time as Kareena - his rumours were linked with Kareena. Preity was linked with Aamir/Saif at the time.

I feel like we are way off topic now. Going back to the original post - Ash-HR had cute chemistry in their ads. I still think they would have wasted it if they signed rom-coms in the early 2000s. Glad they waited and done quality work in Jodhaa Akbar and Guzaarish.
