The youth is primarily responsible for making or breaking a star now days. However, we live in a generation where the youth does not have the mindset of remaining invested in a particular actor or actress, rather they tend to like films first than the actors it seems and it is extremely transient.

I can give a prime example being taylor swift, who was a youth icon and one of the most successful people alive, but is going through a slow decline majorily because the youth is invested in newer talent. Also "youth", or young people grow up and with age, they become less invested in stars they used to like. The stars they use to like begin to lose their novelty, and they want to watch or listen in this case to someone new or in other cases they just lose interest with time and age.

It seems back in the day even 10 20 years ago, many young people grew up with actors they liked and remained faithful to them for years to no end. Do you think this mindset is a reason why the idea of stardom is fading?

The main reason for it is stars are easily approachable, more visible (blame to social media- instagram, twitter, youtube channel, tiktok etc).

The meaning of star is visible but not approachable like we see in the sky.

Normal people used to go crazy to hear stories about stars in the past, but these days celebrities themselves share their stories to become popular. The gossips are open these days and so as the publicity and public campaigns. So normal people are not curious to know about celebrities these days.

The old celebrities if we take khans, HR, DP or Priyanka or Katrina are considered as stars- as we still dont know much about them from their past (like gossips or relationships), that make normal people curious to know about them.

It's there. But it has shifted to social media stars.

For Gen Z, stars are Instragram influencers, pop stars, and YouTubers.

First factor is the charm or pull or personality the actor should have but lacks.

Second factor is too much exposure.

Third there is no connect with audience on emotional level.

Stars used to be larger than life but with so much exposure, you realize that there is just nothing special about them, they also cook, change diapers, and wear ugly outfits at home.

There was a time where with difficulty we used to get news or pictures of celebrity, from magazines. But now with too many interviews, chat shows, we can get all the news, and instagram for all the pictures.
