What is it ?
I understand Netflix or hbo or espn documentaries can be informative. But what are so good about fictional web series ? Is it binge watching all in one day ? Cause I do that with old shows no longer on tv.

What I have noticed is that initially web series did not have the budget as high as TV shows but they had the same concept (episodes).
Gradually bigger names got attached and production quality got better. Streaming services ended up getting the rights of old tv shows as well so people could stream that (more money). And any new web show came up, all the episodes were available immediately.
In India where TV has become sh*t, so fictional web shows became go to for the "smart audience". Then after Sacred Games and Mirzapur, everyone started watching web shows.
In the West, web series seem to have become more popular than TV cz they can stream full seasons instead of 1 episode per week.
And of course some Indian platforms have borderline X rated content for the sleazy audience mainly.
Also people are living busy lives and cannot schedule their day according to a tv show timing anymore. Initially Indian TV was targeting housewives (Ekta's K shows in 2000s) but now everyone's working so they prefer watching stuff on their computers...streaming services work the best for this.
Streaming content is also becoming shit
Abroad its mostly big name actors but poorly scripted shows.... Witcher, 6 underground, etc
.. Indian streaming content is mostly erotica or galiyon-wali-desh-ki-mitti wale shows.... I'm getting so bored with this...
Depends on the show and the concept. For me the idea of an 8-10 episode season is a lot more appealing as I've consumed american/canadian/british media with seasons and smaller episodes. For me what matters most is tight storylines and interesting characters, which eventually become lost with daily soaps. However I will say there have been some incredible daily soaps that ended timely and did not dilute their original intention. But as a whole, it really comes down to quality over quantity. The only web series of late that I've enjoyed is Asur.
