Taapsee Pannu Slams Men who still think Thappad was just about a Slap!

Taapsee Pannu's Thappad has stirred up a discussion on the Internet. Now, she has reacted to men who are still opined that it was just a slap and Amrita (Taapsee Pannu) should have forgiven him...

Taapsee Pannu’s recent release Thappad has garnered a lot of attention for its niche and off-beat topic that has intrigued all of India. The film talks about violence inflicted upon married women and how even a slap can make a major difference leading to the changing phase of a marriage.

While the film has stirred up a debate on the Internet several women have stood by director Anubhav Sinha’s perspective. Several failed to understand the message of the film, as certain men are still opined that it was just a slap and the man has been apologetic so the woman should let it go.

In a recent interaction with SpotboyE, Taapsee clarified the apt message Thappad holds. She said that the whole purpose of the film is just that. Had there not been such kind of men, the film wouldn’t be made. “The film is about the majority, not the exceptions.”

However, a section of the audience has failed to acknowledge what the film talks about as ‘Boycott Thappad’ has taken the internet by the storm for Taapsee’s involvement with the Anti-CAA protests.

Clearly, the audience has confused Taapsee’s personal and professional life. During a recent interaction, she reacted to the trend and clarified the same.

I would really be happy if Thappad is a hit. A tight slap to all macho men who think that slapping wife is a way of expressing love and authority. It will intimidate all those who support mindless macho movies and nepotism supporters.

Pehle nepotism se aage badhenge, fir cronyism pe aayenge. Can't expect someone to be perfectly meritorious to be only one worthy of taking on nepotism.

I watched the film, it was thought provoking, yet beautifully made! But since it is a serious subject and lacks any absolute entertainment value, it wouldn't work beyond multiplexes - may end at 30 cr or less.

But it would be a big hit on TV/OTT platforms for sure.

Kudos to Taapsee and Anubhav for making a very important film.
