AS if HR never had a monopoly on this award

He won 4 in less than 10 years. He's hardly the biggest victim in all this

so 4 awards in not 10 but 20 years ... and that is a monopoly?

let me break this down for you

2000- KHPH, MK and Fiza.. Both KNPH and Mission Kashmir were big hits, KNPH infact was the most popular film of the year and the craze was something else about it, so HR winning for KNPH was very much justified. Infact that year nepotism took a back seat, Yash Raj's son Uday and Amitabh B's son Abhi were beaten by a B-lister's son and rightfully.

2001- Did not win for K3G

2003- Koi Mil Gaya.. Highets grosser of the year. Second best was SRK for KHNH or Amiabh B for Baghban but i believe Amitabh B should have won the critics

2004- Did not win for Lakshya even though that was one of his best performances. I think SRK winning for swades was justified.

2006- First and second highest grossers were HR's, so he won for the popular category whereas Ajay rightfully won for the critics choice, there was not even a second thought about it. Nobody else could play a dhoom character better than him, so him winning that trophy was not unjust.

2008- He won for Jodha Akbar because this movie was probably one of the best period dramas and earned lot of popularity even after much negativity and also one of the top 5 grossers of the year i think behind Gajni and Rabne and also SIK, Gajni was a remake (if you feel remakes should not win) and Rab ne was just a same old SRK rom com, so Hrithik was the best fit.

2010- Nominated for guzaarish, did not win even after the best reviewed performance by critics.

2011- Nominated but did not win for ZNMD

2012- Nominated but did not win for Agneepath.

2013- Nominated but did not win for Krrish 3.

2019- Nominated and did not win for War.

and from all those above years when he did not win, I have never complained because there was someone more deserving who won. This year he deserved it the most that is why I am complaining. And about the monopoly you are talking about, I never saw any kind of backlash over any of HR's victories, industry had congratulated him for all his wins, look at the backlash this year, it never happened for Ranveer also when he won for bajirao but it is happening now, that means majority expected someone else to win.

Exactly, filmfare and other award shows have nothing against shahid, shahid has won many awards for his roles, it has more to do with the film and character and the backlash that it got, so rs and rk wud also not have won if they had done the role

Acting award is given for acting zara and not for how character is written

Exactly!!!

Kabir was not a positive character but does it matter when awarding the actor playing the character? Shahid's acting was superb. He definitely deserved to win.

Now also its not about Ranveer...The backlash is about every award being swept by one movie when there were more movies which deserved a lot more recognition and also the best debut and best female awards....Very few have a problem with Ranveer winning the best actor as everybody agrees that he was a close contender along with all the other nominees and deserves to win as much as the others...

I haven’t watched KS but if his was a better performance then surely he deserves to win regardless of what his character was about because this is an acting award and not a character certificate!

EDIT ADD: I personally have lost faith on these awards long time back when Aamir Khan and some of the more deserving candidates never managed to win...Now its just something that I watch to see who is wearing what and what drama entailed during the show! Other than that, my favorites get their biggest award when I like their movies and they manage to entertain me and give me my money’s worth...Other than that, I stopped caring and you should too if you want to keep your peace!

Shahid has won plenty of awards in the past for Kaminey, Haider and Udta Punjab. There is nothing personal against him.

If Kabir Singh is not winning awards there are multiple reasons for it. One, the movie is a scene for scene remake. Not an adaption, but a scene for scene remake. Two, it has received a lot of flak for being regressive and encouraging dangerous ideas of toxic masculinity. Awarding a movie that’s already come under fire for the above mentioned issues is inviting even more criticism.

Exactly what I feel.

If awarding criteria include character the actor is playing , then many wouldn’t have won before this. I mean even if in the many SRK wins let’s not forget he have won for being a jerk in KKHH, RK won for Sanju despite all the backlash the film received, monkey won for playing a MF, for playing a cheater. Shahid may have played a character already portrayed, his character in the film may be a jerk, the film and his character may have faced backlash. But if others can win earlier, Shahid too deserve it. Infact he deserves more cos he was Kabir onscreen and not shahid. It’s not easy to overwrite a popular character/performance. People bound to compare and put down remake versions if the acting isn’t good. Despite all this, Shahid won people over on the acting part alone. He completely deserves the award more than the ones who won(popular/critics). Hr’s 30 performance is a close second. How did the top two performance of 2019 not won anything?

I agree with you, the backlash is mainly because of all the major awards. I don't know when did last time a film.. winning all major awards create this big of a hooplah, infact Zoya'd ZNMD also won 8 awards and I think Black won 11 awards but didn't see these type of criticism.

Ranveer definitely was a very close contender, it's just I think he didn't deserve it over some of the other actors, or maybe it's just the Hrithik fan in me disappointed but I guess it's better to not get disappointed over these awards anymore. Even last year I think RK didn't deserve it for Sanju.

Honestly it's better to not care, most of the audience doesn't care about the awards anymore I think and these days even big Stars doesn't seem to care much too. Aamir was always strict about the fact that he doesn't care but previously big Stars used to always participate but since the past few years it seems like even they don't care.

First decade he was their It boy now they dont give him a 2nd look. 😆😆 Hardly the worst injustice ever. I mean between 2003-2011 HR/SRK/Big B played hot potato with the award. Yet what happened this past weekend is just too much 😆

IMHO HR deserved it more for Guzaarish & Lakshya...There both were far more superior performances than S30...Just MHO!

And you didn’t hear a lot of noise in the previous years because one, it just definitely is OTT that they didn’t deem any other movie fit to get the Best Lyrics etc and two, more people found their voice through the SM!

I do hope things get changed but frankly I don’t care...I don’t even think the actors that I used to worry for, cared! Now I just don’t care at all...I like RS but honestly I would’ve liked for him to not to win rather than get dragged like this even after giving such a wonderful performance!
