Isn't it confusing?

The same audience who rejects trash like LAK2 also rejects gems like Panga. The latter received praise from all quarters yet flopped miserably. The film was entertaining, wholesome, had the quintessential win of the underdog- all tropes which usually make a film successful. It received positive WOM also, nt just from critics.

Is the rejection of the film synonymous to rejection of the lead actress? I am saying this because content was positively received by all - from Youtube and Twitter reviews to the audience of the theatre I was in (many clapped ta the end), to all my friends who watched it. But point is - very few people watched it in the theatre.

The internet is not the real world. Twitter hypes movies like Masaan that nobody watches. They spend half their time trying to prove how terrible old classics that everyone likes are to prove how intellectual they are.

People might have said nice things about Panga but it's the type of movie they would watch for free at home, not run to the theater for.

People want to spend their money on big spectacles. That's why even bad movies like Dabang 3 get a certain audience because they will get to see fights and action and explosions which look much better in a theater than at home. Same reason why period dramas with huge sets and costumes and battle scenes do well in the theater. They get very poor TV ratings because it does not look special at home.

Panga was painfully slow..People have no patience to sit through such content...With the right content, the audience won’t care if its a criminal in the central role!

Only the first half was slow but it was so well-crafted you never felt bored. At least, that's my opinion. I don't think anyone who saw it felt it was a bore. In LAK 2, you could feel the restlessness and discontent in the theatre. I never felt that both times I watched it in theatre - I do gauge audience response, and it was very positive on the whole.

Even Piku was slow but it became a huge hit.

I saw it and I had to really focus to not doze off and I can only speak for myself....I couldn’t gauge the restlessness in the theater because there were only 2-3 more people in that show...

EDIT: The movie is a one time watch at home...Not worth going to a theater like rkisnothot above mentioned!

Your friend circle or my friend circle cannot define public opinion ...for a film to be a success lakhs and lakhs of people have to like it. And Panga wasnt liked.

Ayushmann 's videos and ivs dont get lots of views but people go to watch him unlike Kangana .....you tube views ,insta views ,fcs are secondary ...Not exactly a popularity determiner always.

Kangana will be more successful opening her own Youtube channel and uploading her self directed, acted, edited videos there...She has such a huge clout there that she will become an overnight hit with millions of views!

Ayushman has a certain connect with the mass audience, unlike Kangana. Kangana is a terrific actress but she lacks that intrinsic something which allures people. It's not even star quality, it's her antics off-screen which has turned people away.
