New trend to have just 1 or 0 kids?

These days there is a trend to have just one kid or no kid at all among married actresses in Bollywood:

1 kid:

Aishwarya

Rani

Shilpa

Kareena

Lara

Asin

Ayesha

0 kids:

Bipasha

Vidya

Preity

Priyanka

Amrita Rao

If you look at the previous generation though:

2 kids:

Kajol

Raveena

Karishma

Madhuri

Sridevi

Twinkle

1 kid:

Sonali is the only one from this generation to have one kid.

0 kids:

Manisha and Urmila (but they married in their 40s, so probably why they haven't had children)

How is the choice of having children a fad?

PC is most likely going to have a kid within next 1 or 2 years so it’s still early to put her in the zero kids section.

Not only actresses but even common public now opting for one kid. Child rearing has become expensive. PC will have one kid. But Priety , Bipasha and Vidya will be child free.

Common public's reason for having just one kid is financial reasons.

But celebrities don't have to worry about that. I think with them, it's more about being in the age bracket where they can produce children.

Earlier there wouldn't be many opportunities for actresses who hit 30, so they would just get married and have children. However, thanks to slight liberalization and improved progressive mindset over the last two decades, actresses are now able to work full-time till their late-30s, which obviously puts plans of having children on the backseat.

May be the usage of the word is wrong. Trend is more appropriate. Changed it.

That has been the trend among all my cousins who are in 40s now...

Katrina is also almost 37 (her official age). I don't think she has plans of marriage any time soon, so she is another one who may not have any kids.

PC will definitely have 1 kid with Nick.. if not two, within 1 - 2 years from now.

Priyanka said in some magazine interview years ago that she hopes to be married with 4 kids (2 biological and 2 adopted) by 30.

Oh, how priorities change!

Also, no - she will definitely not have kids in the next 1 year. She is doing two films for Netflix, one for Amazon Prime and one that she is making with Mindy Kaling.
