But that was considered normal back then became women weren't considered human beings. They were properties of men. Khilji had the same beliefs but was also a bit crazy. Is that enough to call him the bad guy?
There were kings who conquered other kingdoms but adopted the citizens, treated them as their own, giving as much freedom or laws which their older kingdoms had.... And there were kings who conquered kingdoms, looted the citizens, killed civilian men, destroyed their religious places, raped the women and ran havoc in the conquered kingdoms, those were the villains....
Even in those times when kingdoms would fight each other for expansion, there were laws which every kingdoms followed.... Firstly fight was against the king and his army, the civilian were not supposed to be killed. Religious places were supposed to be honoured Even if the winning king didn't follow that religion..... There were time allotted to fight, that is day time.... Sunset was to be used for rest and recuperation and treating the gravely injured and do final rites of the dead soldiers.... Even the dead bodies of the enemy soldiers deserved full honour and respect.... and many more laws like these.,..
So there are few kings who didn't follow the above rules and hence they became notorious as villains...
