Why some twitter experts acted like Maarjavaan was HIT

I saw many chomus celebrating it, saying like Maarjavan again proves critics don't matter(yes they don't), but giving example of Maarjavan was bit murky, especially given the movie is struggling to get 50 crores.

So was Bhushi again paying twitter warriors, to create a false perception that movie is a hit among audience.

Because it was sold to just one distributor for 20cr and at 46crs the distributor is in profit now. Ergo Hit.

Ek hota hai BO wala hit flop

That’s the consensus amongst the trade analysts on twitter that it was sold for 20cr. Some numbers did say 25. I think that’s why a few are saying 50cr will make it a hit.

I know it was said sarcastically above that by Sidharth Malhotra standards it’s a hit, but that’s kind of what’s happening here. His movies won’t get sold for a very high price because of his past box office record so 20cr is believable.

Okay, but I don't trust twitter chomus.

Anyways seems like T Series either undersold the movie or is buying Twitter walas. Because all sources are saying Maarjavaan is atleast 40-50 crores venture.

So selling it for 20 crores seems like a face saving tactics, than actually making profits.

Producers typically make up their production costs with selling satellite rights and music etc. So I really doubt T-series lost any money over it. What determines a hit or flop is how much money distributors lose or how much profit they make. In this case they are making a profit. I doubt T-series could buy all the trade analysts on twitter to declare a flop movie a hit. If this was doable much bigger stars would have tried it with their movies. No one cares enough to do it for a Sid movie. Unfortunate fact. All of that being said, you are right that the movie probably was undersold relative to its production cost. But that’s done often I suspect and once again, I don’t think producers lose money over it. They just make it easier for the distributors so they can get the hit tag. Also from what I understand once distributors are in profit the producers get some share of that profit too. But that might depend on what kind of deals they’ve signed.
