No oneâs making excuses, itâs a fact, the timing of the release, the genre and many other things effect the collections of a movie. For example, October made less money than all the masala films Varun does... Gurzarrish made less money than other Hrithik films. Itâs just the way it is.
Moreover itâs brave of these actors to even do a The Sky Is Pink, October, Gurzarrish etc, films on illness and death. Itâs a lot easier to do a tried and tested South remake or some other remake or sequel and get a success tag. Whatever the collections Iâm glad I got to see a good film.
I guess the reality is that films are always a toss up, and when you are sure something is going to go one way or another and people will appreciate it or hate the public goes and proves you wrong. I am always mystified with some of the awful films that become hits and vice versa. I think it is always not good when a film fails, because more than the stars thereâs many other people behind the work and in this case because it is a sensitive subject and the young ladyâs family was involved then it must have been extra pressure for Priyanka. I have my own opinions for why it is not a hit, but it does not matter, my why. Nevertheless I hope they end up content, that they got to film their story.
In this interview Priyanka mentions thereâs going to be a documentary with real life footage of the Chaudhary family coming out too.
The Sky Is Pink got a huge deal with Netflix even before the film released, I guess the documentary will be on Netflix as well.
I am amazed that the movie's performance is so poor. I have not heard any mega negative reviews; WoM has been extremely positive from whoever has seen the movie. The only thing that came up was that it should have been 20-25 min shorter but thats feedback that can apply to almost 90% of Bollywood productions. I really liked SKF and was disappointed when that didn't do well. I havent seen TSIP and I hope it stays in theatres this weekend.
The Sky Is Pink Down On Monday

The Sky Is Pink went down on Monday as it dropped 45-50% from day one. Its the normal Monday fall for a film which collects well in the first weekend but that was not the case with this film. The film collected 1.25- 1.35 crore nett on Monday which takes its total to 11.75 crore nett plus.
The first week will finish at around 15 crore nett and there will not be coming much thereafter. This sort of urban film hardly has a chance at the box office now if there is competition from a good Hollywood release. This film holds appeal mainly for English speaking audiences and these are not exactly in huge numbers and at the moment Joker is the choice for this audience. The four day numbers of The Sky Is Pink are as follows.
Friday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 1,30,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 11,80,00,000 apprx
