They are government awards so they are always going to have a political shade even though they shouldn't. Political institutions are always compromised and even more so in volatile countries like India.

Industry awards like the Oscars also have their biases but biases are still different from actual political control the way government based awards have. The same kind of BS goes on when it comes to Padma Shri and all that too.

then why do people give so much importance to national awards when it has political motivation and bias? even before uri released people predicted that it would win national awards just based n the films topic

Alia comes with such a huge commercial baggage that people can't look beyond her cute looks and see her performance,

i always knew she won't get the award...big deal. the same goes for Ranveer...bollywood awards standards are pretty lame so they got those pretty easily

i know that Keerthy has won the national award for Mahanti. It's a great film but even then, Alia is a mediocre actress and even if keerthi had not won, some other regional actress would have definitely won for sure...

Ayushman was acting like a blind man who is not blind and playing a piano, he spent months learning piano and Andhadhun was way better movie than Padmavat. Indian government won't give Khilji, the best actor award 😔

Alia Bhatt can't win best actress, one has to act in movie for it

For me Ranveer as Bajirao is greater than Khilji so will always be bitter about him not winning for BM. He was a close contender for NA that year. Imo his performance was more NA deserving than Big B's for Piku that year. I never expected Ranveer would win this year tbh.

They do. They give random awards to many regional movies because most of the time, hardly anyone has seen them to know better. It makes them look serious and credible.

I remember there was a year a Gujarati film called The Good Road won for Best Film and it was so bad. All the critics in Gujarat had bashed it when it came out and the characters weren't even speaking the language properly.

Most of the time these jury members are jokers.

KJO was not able to crack the deal. He was close (thats why the awards have been so delayed) they even sucked up to Modi with all the stars having a meeting with him but it didnt work cuz Alia's parents and her firangi mother that wants to live in Pakistani made anti-nationalist comments. The British passport rumor also ruined her chances.

I have been working tirelessly to make sure that Alia doesnt win, and I also made Kalank flop too. Thats the power of Shaitan in my mind, now I can sleep at peace with no Kalank in my thoughts.

^this is all total BS...everyone knew that keerthy shall win the award for Mahanti..that film and the actress was praised to an extent of getting the award..
