ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's new ISI Chief, Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam, is the nephew of Indian National Army hero Shah Nawaz Khan and through him, shares a tenuous link with Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan.

Mr Islam's father served as a brigadier in the Pakistan Army and Shah Nawaz Khan, who was a major general in the Indian National Army led by Subhas Chandra Bose, was his uncle, leading Pakistani defense analyst Ikram Sehgal told Press Trust of India.

"One son of Shah Nawaz Khan went with him at the time of partition, while another, Mahmood Nawaz, stayed on in Pakistan and became a full colonel.

"In fact, Mahmood Nawaz went and met his father only after retirement as he could not travel to India while he was in service," Mr Sehgal said, providing details of the new ISI Chief's extended family.

Shahrukh Khan's late mother Lateef Fatima was the adopted daughter of Shah Nawaz Khan, according to the Bollywood star's biography on several websites.

Mr Islam, who was on Friday appointed as the new head of the powerful spy agency by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, comes from a military family and was born in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Shah Nawaz Khan is NOT SRK's grandfather. His grandfather is Ifthikar Ahmed who built the port of Mangalore. Here is a picture of him opening the port with Lal Bahadur Shashtri.

I never said he was SRKs Grandfather. I said his mother was raised by that Shah Nawaz person. You're already twisting my words. And its not a lie as I gave you a NDTV link which last heard is a bona fide mainstream media portal. But NDTV equals to whatsapp when it suits you I suppose. Carry on. His mother was adopted by shahnawaz Khan and he is the one who raised her. That makes him shahrukh's grand father. When shahrukh Khan and his fans say his family fought for the country, are they talking about iftikhar or shahnawaz?😆

With that said, he was not SRK's grandfather anyway. SRK has mentioned his grandpa Iftekhar Ahmed many times and his grandpa left behind his house in Bangalore for SRK.

Shahrukh Khan and his family's associattion with a traitor like shahnawaz and Pakistan isi proves how shady the whole family on Indian side is.
