We heard the same chants about Gully Boy pre-release too... Zoya is a flop director (she had one hit because of HR only), Zoya is a non-commercial director so the money the movie will make depends on the star of the movie but RS does not have the star power or bo pull to give a 100 cr++ especially without SLB, DP, Rohit Shetty... the movie is non-masala, non- commercial will not get a double digit opening or will not go above 10 cr opening as RS on his own is not a crowd puller. 😆

Post release when the movie got a 19 cr opening and a LT above 100cr++: Zoya became a commercial hit director a brand comparable to SLB and Rohit Shetty, GB is the most commercial movie of the year.😆

Anyways hope the people who are putting down Kapil Dev and 1983 world cup win, calling Kabir Khan a hit and miss director do not change their stance when 83 becomes a big hit.and start crediting Kapil Dev and Kabir Khan for the success. Who am I kidding? As usual people will change their stance opinion and change goal posts.

And people putting down YRF and Ranveer collabs calling them box office poison and flop combo should remember that pre GB Zoya and Ranveer were a flop combo too. You never know what the future holds, things may change. 😉 YRF movie is with a debut director and debut heroine so if the movie becomes a hit, he can disprove the detractors once and for all. There will be no top director or heroine wonder who people will credit then.

Ranveer fans don't even realise that Gully Boy exposes their favourite stardom very well.😆Why is it so that after giving two 200 Crore films, Ranveer struggled to cross 150 Crores with Gully Boy? If he doesn't need SLB, DP or Rohit Shetty to give Blockbusters then why he struggled to even cross the lifetime of BM which released 3 years ago?

The only excuse RS fans can come up with is that GB is a niche film, though it released in more than 3000 screens, got huge promotions, had A-lister heroine, chartbuster songs, and even opened at 20 Crores which is the same range Padmaavat and Simmba opened. So a masala film of Ranveer and niche film of Ranveer opens at the same range? Gully Boy opened huge, but didn't trend well enough like other RS films, that's the fact.

Niche film never gets a wide release. That completely goes against the term niche, which means a film targeted at limited audience. GB is a multiplex film, which might limit audience but not on a large scale, as maximum films collections comes from multiplexes only. The only thing that saved RS @ss is the Hit verdict the film got despite low collections, aur ussi ke dum pe uske fans itna uchhalte hai.

About 83, I was only talking about SH and some other people calling it a sureshot Blockbuster which its clearly not. It can be a huge success like Sanju too, but there's no guarantee for that. There was no need get butthurt over my post, but obviously, RS fans love to twist things to suit their agenda.

And of course I'll give credit to Kabir Khan if the movie does well. That's right, he's hit-or-miss, that means hits the nail atleast sometimes., and if he hits why will I not give credit to him for that? Because your favourite definitely can't give huge grossers on his own. His films need good WOM to run, and he can't even give good enough opening of a "Superstar" like this forum claims to him to be

Kapil Dev is like Sanjay Dutt, not MSD. He's a draw, but not a guarantee of a sureshot Blockbuster. His name will bring fans to theatre, but it'll not be in huge volume. Because as I said, most of his fans will be too old to watch the film in theatre.
