Article 15 Holds Well - Malaal Is A Disaster

Malaal is a disaster with collections of 45-50 lakhs nett on day one. The collections of this film are lower than the likes of Loveyatri and Notebook released in October 2018 and March 2019 respectively which were similar films with newcomers.

There is no hope for this film as the collections are too low for the release size of this film. Even here most of the collections of have come from Mumbai circuit with practically no audience in other circuits. The other release One Day hardly had a release which means it hardly had any collections.

Article 15 is steady as it collected 2.25 crore nett on its second Friday. The film is down juts 50% apprx from the first day and the chances are that it could be at 50 crore nett plus after two weeks. The film has collected 36.25 crore nett in 8 days and is set to emerge a HIT film. The collections of Article 15 till date are as follows.

Friday - 4,75,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 7,75,00,000 apprx

Monday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

Tuesday - 3,75,00,000 apprx

Wednesday - 3,50,00,000 apprx

Thursday - 3,00,00,000 apprx

Week One - 34,00,00,000 apprx

Friday - 2,25,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 36,25,00,000 apprx

Article 15 Good Second Weekend - Malaal Very Dull

Monday 08 July 2019 11.15 ISTBox Office India Trade Network

Article 15 recorded a good second weekend with figures around 11.75 crore nett which is a just a little over 40% down from the first weekend. The ten day figures are almost 46 crore nett and the film should emerge a HIT film although it has to get over the hurdle of a possibility of two big cricket matches. The collections of Artcle 15 till date are as follows.

Week One - 33,74,00,000

Friday - 2,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 4,00,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 5,25,00,000 apprx

Second Weekend - 11,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 45,49,00,000 apprx

Malaal had a very dull weekend of 1.75 crore nett apprx and the first day basically sealed its fate. There was some growth on Sunday but with Saturday not really going up the Sunday growth hardly mattered. The collections for the film are mainly from Mumbai circuit while in North there was no audience for this film. The collections of Malaal for the first three days are as follows.

Friday - 45,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 50,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 1,70,00,000 apprx

I was quite skeptical after seeing the trailer but movie was way better than my expectations and once again Ayushmann didn't disappoint at all. The background score, cinematography and acting is all top notch I must say. The film is directed majorly as a crime thriller and it does a very good job at it. The underlying caste coloring just adds to its impact and gave me chills at certain points. It serves as a reminder and gives us a hunch of how ugly caste dynamics can be in the countryside. The film conveys the message with impact and never becomes over preachy or anything. Just seeing it as a movie, disregarding its connections and honesty in portrayal of real life incident, I think it is a very well made movie and a good watch.

I think casting could have been better. I can’t take Manoj Pahwa as a serious actor. He’s suited to comedian roles and definitely not to a serious criminal role. The other rapist havaldar was useless too and the movie looked more like an extended episode of Crime Patrol than a movie
