One of Hindi cinema’s most prolific and dynamic filmmakers, Sajid Nadiadwala, has come on board as co-producer for ’83. The film, which has Bollywood hottie Ranveer Singh playing Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev, is directed by Kabir Khan. It will now have the Kick director partnering with Madhu Mantena and Reliance Entertainment. Sajid and Madhu also have plans to produce three more films together over a period of three years.
Preparation for the movie is on in full swing. Two days ago, After Hrs reported how composer Pritam would make music for this sports drama. While a few other details are being ironed out, Sajid’s participation and presence has brought more momentum to this project.His banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE), is one of the most reputed production houses in Indian cinema. The company, which has 64 years of domain experience in entertainment, has delivered some of the most sought-after franchises such as Housefull, Baaghi and Judwaa.
Sajid says, “All four scripts, including ’83, are excellent. As a producer, one has to commit to the material on hand, more than anything else. Coming on board for the sports biopic gives me a feeling of personal joy because I witnessed that glorious and historical moment of India’s 1983 World Cup win on television. But then again, it’s the script of this film that has blown my mind. There are certain projects that have an aura around them. ’83 is one of those movies.”
Presented by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment, it will be Ranveer’s first multilingual movie as it will be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Welcoming the co-producer on board, Madhu expressed, “Sajid Nadiadwala is one of the most valuable anchors these films can get. He has an astute understanding of content and business and is a completely hands-on producer. We will benefit immensely from this partnership.”
