Going back to the original question - I don't think this just has to do with Deepika. Before, we had a wide variety of female actresses doing great work - Anushka, Priyanka, Deepika, Vidya, even Sonam at times, with Radhika Apte, Tabu, and other actresses who don't get their due in the midst. Nowadays every movie is co-produced by Dharma and all these actresses are manufactured by the same, whether that be Jahnvi, Alia, Ananya, Tara, etc.

Janhvi danced better on Ghoomar, even SLB looked impressed

The roles you're bringing up, are bollywood classics (besides udta punjab). I agree, she def can't do a jab we met or any of those.. but the topic is about deepika and alia - not kangana or Kareena. They both have their own classics!

Deepika have grace and elegance which many actresses lack, she was very good in Piku and Chennai Express. I didn't like her in those SlB movies I feel Sanjay didn't give her much to do but just made her a beautiful wallpaper instead! In Bajrao Mastani she was overshadow by Priyanka and in Padmaavat by Aditi.

I can't picture Deepika pulling off a Raazi just like I can't picture Alia pulling off a Leela

Deepika just doesn't have the innocence or the Kashmir looks to pull off or look good in a film like Raazi that's why I said that film is made only for Alia

And Alia have no grace and elegance to pull off a role like Leela and Kalank was the biggest proof

Of course, she wasn’t great. She has been the most overrated and the most average before Alia came. All the time she would seek attention and do PR activities to gain publicity and attack other actresses and then act fake sweet in person to them and act like a victim all the time. But when it comes to as actress compared to Alia, she was much much better than Alia. Alia is the worst in everything compared to DP.
