Kangana Ranaut emerged winner in the Best Actress poll by beating Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon
Sure, the first quarter of 2019 has gone past us but not before giving us good wholesome entertainment to binge with popcorn. It has even been a good run, you know box-office wise, with blockbusters and hits like Uri, Total Dhamaal, Kesari, Gully Boy and Manikarnika, to name a few favourites and we couldn't have been more grateful. While some impressed us with their acting chops, some left us speechless with their screen presence thanks to the direction, the music, the setting and a lot more.
Needless to say, the film buff in us has been taking stock of things also, noting note-worthy milestones of where to tip the hat and to say that it's paying off will be an understatement. Thanks to the humongous response to #BLBestOf3 polls that we conducted in order to do the above-mentioned. From Best Actor to Best Actress, from Best Dialogue to Best Poster, we invited fans to vote for their favourite stars and it's been raining love. In fact, we already have the winners of the Best Actor and Best Actress titles and it's none other than Ranveer Singh for Gully Boy and Kangana Ranaut for Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
That's right, both the roles from both the films got a lot of love and appreciation and for all the right reasons. Even Alia Bhatt who played Safeena in the Zoya Akhtar directorial made it to the nominations of the Best Actress title along with Taapsee Pannu and Kriti Sanon for Badla and Luka Chuppi respectively.
In fact, we even reached out to Kangana to know if she was surprised on beating Alia Bhatt's popular performance. To which the diva replied saying, "I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ...same snappy muh phat girl... Bollywood's idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media has taken filmy kids love too far...stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised."
Well, wonder what Alia has to say about Kangana's comment. On the work-front, Kangana will be next seen in Mental Hai Kya opposite Rajkummar Rao, which is scheduled to hit the screens on May 24. She has also started shooting for Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's Panga.
Meanwhile, Alia is busy promoting her upcoming film Kalank with Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt. She also has Sadak 2, Takht and RRR in her kitty. Stay tuned to BL for more updates and scoops!
