Has anyone seen the movie Aligarh?

I just saw Aligarh last night and was pretty moved. I'm surprised how the movie actually was pretty explicit in illustrating everything. It's quite commendable how Manoj Bajpayee took up this role and enacted it so well (not that the latter is surprising).
I thought the direction could have been slightly better because sometimes the scenes would change and it would happen without a proper transition. Other than that, I really liked the movie.

Has anyone else seen it and their thoughts? Also, since this is based on a true story, does anyone recall how this story played out in real life at Aligarh University etc.? I presume it was mostly the same.

Yep, I saw it last year. One of my friends had recommended it so we watched it. Never heard of Manoj until then. Anyway, I was engrossed in his performance. He brought Professor Siras to life with his acting! And quite sad really, how he was rejected. Can't say how it panned here in India from what really happened, but I can imagine how it probably caused an uproar at the Uni

I did.. I loved it.. I was actually so happy that Manoj won the critics awards for this one... Very very well deserved.. He was phenomenal.. I don't know the criteria for NA but damn did he deserve that one too.. I was so bummed when Akki won it for Rustom instead.. But I guess in 2016, perhaps homosexuality was still not an open subject? Or whatever, but Manoj was mind blowing

I read up the story after watching the movie.. His suspension was revoked but he was found dead in his apartment.. there was poison in his body and murder case was registered but there was no evidence so the case was not resolved
