I think Zoya really wanted him as MC Sher, but he backed out when he learnt Ranveer is also in the movie.

Why was she expecting him to play second fiddle to Ranveer anyway? When this went into production, Varun was doing better than everyone 😆

I think MC Sher's role was bigger till Fawad left it. Wasn't the title of the movie Gully BoyS back then? When they couldnt manage an A lister for that role they cut the role short and cast the top heroine to make the project bankable.
