Why I am not convinced of Alia's versatility.

Heck even in that 10 minutes role in K&S it was made sure that a random breakdown scene gets incorporated since that's what Alia is comfortable in. I find her pretty much unbearable with her fixed set of frowning & flaring expressions, exception being Badrinath ki Dulhania where she was blank & acted like a frozen turky in half of the film😆

The gem this is 😆 I still cant believe her brother and Varun had the gall to compare her with Meryl Streep. Like The Meryl Streep. Its mind boggling to me. Only a product of nepotism can get away with shit like this. Alia Bhatt and Meryl Streep. Phew.

Correction**

Rahul bhatt 1st called her Meryl Streep, then it was Arjun Kapoor who again called her Meryl during Gully boy trailer release

while Javed Akhtar tweeted this-Javed Akhtar was all praise, as he compared Alia's performance to some of the industry stalwarts. "Milestones -Nargis in 'Mother India', Meena Kumari in 'Saheb Bibi', Nutan in 'Bandani', Shabana in 'Arth' and now Alia Bhatt in 'Highway,'" he tweeted.😆

whereas Varun called her Robert Di Niro of our generation in more of a Tongue in cheek manner during promotions😆

She is a good actress, certainly not the best, or G.O.A.T. i ffind her overrated.

The weirdest part is in kwk, where literally everyone takes her name over someone like kangana, kareena or priyanka.

Bhumi and Rhea were smart enough and gave sly - non problematic taunts :P Kjo's face was worth watching.

Her career is basically thanks to dharma. There are better actors than her but just that any good script coming to dharma is by default given to her. That is just how it is. :p

People take an abstract criteria, forcefit onto every role and declare every actor mediocre . Yet people who literally don't even change costume from one film to other are declared national award worthy. 😆

i like alia as an actor

but problem i feel is that is she way too overexposed..it is like even if she comes in movies after almost a year which she did recently..badri..raazi and now gully..all have a gap of almost a year..you feel like you have already seen way too much of her..

secondly..alia has yet to touch comedy..negative etc etc..she has a long way to go to be called versatile..but comparing her to kareena..i would say..she herself is no bench mark for versatility..baring a few..her almost 20 years career has the same kinda roles done over and over..PC..kangana..vidya are the real deal when it comes to being versatile

Like others have said, I agree that Alia brings some of her personality into the characters she plays. Especially in the recent movies. In the initial movies, I wasn't familiar with her acting style so it did seem pretty versatile to me but now when I see her act, I feel like we have already seen what she has to offer. She does seem to pick roles similar to what she has done.

Having said that, I will say that I think she is a good actress. Just that she's got comfortable and now all I can see is Alia acting like a character instead of that character. Maybe if she picks up different roles or finds new ways to perform those, maybe then I will appreciate her acting more and say that she's versatile. She's not one-tone or anything, she is versatile but she has shown less variety till now.
