Why do actors lie about their age?

I understand why sportspeople lie about their age because they have to go through u19 structure and want more opportunities at domestic level as youngsters are preferred there but why actors lie about their age?

Why did Salman lie in the court? Isn't that a more important question to ask?

Because in the country, people don't care so much about one's education as much as they care about one's age.

It's not only actors or sports persons, even the general public at large loves to lie about age.

The basic reason is no one wants to feel older.

Sometimes birth certificates don't show the correct birth year.

Our 70 yr old maid with 3 married grandchildren and some great grandchildren besides likes to pretend she's 40 and she doesnt look a day below 75.
