BIOPICS are the flavour of the season, and this one is particularly newsworthy because of the big names associated with it. The film, inspired by the rags-to-riches story of a tycoon, is being backed by a top actor-producer. It is said that the gent is keen on getting a leading director with whom he has worked in the past on board. The filmmaker in question recently delivered a fantastic performance at the box office with a true-life story, and the people behind the movie were keen to rope both him and the hit film's leading man. But the actor in question is not keen on doing another biopic right away and even the director wants to experiment with another genre, though he apparently loved the script. The top-actor producer has made him an interesting offer, though. He has told him that if the director makes the movie, he will play the lead himself. It is an offer most people won't refuse. If things to fall into place, it will be one of the biggest films of 2019.

He is the producer so obviously he will pay himself. Or he means by paying from his pocket he will lower the budget..but thats still not an offer. Hirani does not need a low budget to recover money. Ranbir will get money anyway

Bhushan Kumar and Aamir wanted Ranbir to star in it but Ranbir turned it down because he didn't want to do another biopic so soon.

After they dropped the director from the project, they went to Hirani to see if he wants to direct it.
