After Kangana Ranaut made an appearance on Koffee With Karan, social media has been abuzz with Kangana's Nepotism' remark, for Kangana ridiculed Karan by saying that he is the flag bearer of Nepotism'. Now, Kangana is back at it and in the wake of the #MeToo movement, the actress has yet again lashed out at the filmmaker for keeping quiet on the whole issue. As we all know, the #MeToo movement has hit Bollywood after Tanushree Dutta renewed her decade long sexual harassment case against Nana Patekar and post Tanushree, a lot of women are calling out names. Soon after, Alok Nath, Sajid Khan, Subhash Kapoor, Subhash Ghai, Kailash Kher, Vikas Bahl, and others have come under the scanner for their sexual misconduct.
After Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual misconduct by one of his ex-employees, Kangana Ranaut has come out in the open and condemned her Queen director of sexual abuse as she said he'd bury his face in my neck and hold me really tight and breathe in the smell of my hair. But after all the allegations leveled against Bahl, Vikas Bahl's ex-wife Richa Dubey came out in support of Vikas, and lashed out at Kangana by saying that "I want to ask all the women - if a man makes you uncomfortable and touches you inappropriately, would you have a good friendship with that man?' Thereafter, Kangana, who has been at the forefront of this campaign retorted back at Richa by saying that it is not the time for women to pick up fights with each other and instead, women must support each other in this testing time.
Now in the latest development, Kangana Ranaut has targeted filmmaker Karan Johar and ridiculed him for staying quiet on the #MeToo campaign, given that other celebrities from the Indian film fraternity are extending their support to the victims of the Me Too movement. After Tanushree Dutta, B-town celebs such as Priyanka Chopra, Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Twinkle Khanna, Farhan Akhtar and others have voiced their support for the movement. And while this Me Too storm has exploded in Bollywood, Karan Johar silence didn't go down well with Kangana and the actress lashed out at Johar for remaining silent. Kangana told India Today, "I have been speaking about it every day. But, now, more significantly, more people need to come out and talk about it. It's just not one person to talk about it. It's important for people like... Where are people like Karan Johar, Shabana Azmi, they should also come out and talk. adding, "When the Industry is going through such a shift why are these A-list actresses not sharing their stories? I am the only one, you guys come every day. I don't know who calls you but honestly, I have spoken a lot, it's not for one person to talk.
While Karan Johar is reasonably active on social media, Karan's deafening silence on this issue disturbed Kangana and the actress condemned Karan with guns blazing. She added, "Karan Johar has views about gym looks and airport looks. He tweets ten times about it. What about this? This is their identity. This is their bread and butter. When the film industry is going through such an important shift, where are they?
Looks like Kangana cannot contain her anger from talking about Karan's chat show Koffee with Karan and yet again, the actress took a dig at the filmmaker. Few days back, the promo of the first episode of Koffee With Karan featuring Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt was dropped online and after watching the promo, Kangana was left surprised. Why? Kangana said, "I was seeing the promo that they have launched of his talk show, wherein again those frivolous talks have been going on. This one is sleeping with this one, that one is sleeping with. You know making girls look like Barbie dolls. This is not done and why men who change women like clothes are glorified. Has there been a woman who has been glorified like that? Honestly, it's funny, since I have started, I was seventeen, it's just been about gossiping about some select people sleeping with each other. It can't be just that, we need to grow up and it's high time that we do.
At a time when actors like Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan have taken a strong stand against the filmmakers accused of sexual misconduct, Kangana too feels that she will not work with anyone who is accused of sexual abuse. She said, "I have taken a strong stand. When I was seventeen I had lodged an FIR. Some people need to be supported by the society but I don't want to discourage the lone fighters like me. There are some who will slap the offender right then and there and kick their ass, so there are women like that also who might not have to wait for years and years. There are women who need to be empowered and there are women who are very strong. But, my point is, where is Shabana Azmiji, why isn't she sharing her #MeToo experience.
