Aamir's does have a stardom in China though, and I think it cannot be denied.

Thing is they already have loads of movies in the line of Sultan.
Maybe not wrestling, but martial arts plus love story is also a common norm.
Plus Sallu doesn't have the same good will like Aamir does.
Whose Dhoom3 also did a good business, because of the cult following he gained because of 3idiots doing great there online.

What has Dangal got to do with Sultan? Do they both have the same story?I thought the similarity ended at both featuring wrestling...😕

Is it? Since its been repeatedly mentioned, I really thought the stories must be similar...😆While I watched Dangal multiple times, I couldn't watch more than the first 10 mnts of Sultan - so I am really not sure what Sultan was all about!

I have said this before...with Sultan Sallu got lucky that it released before Dangal😆

@cricketfan: Sultan is basically a love story with wrestling/MMA as a theme.
It is about Sallu's character Sultan, who is basically a useless fellow, falls for Anushka's Arfa, a promising wrestler.
Sultan befriends Aarfa, and also promises to learn wrestling, but because of his friends calling Aarfa "bhabhi", a fight ensues, Aarfa insults Sultan and he takes this to heart. And gives his all to wrestling, and goes on to win the state championship and wins over Aarfa. He goes on to be a world and Olympic champion, but also loses his innocence and becomes an arrogant and self centered man. Aarfa on the other hand leaves wrestling because of pregnancy.=BR] Than when the child is about to be born, Sultan instead of tending his kid goes for World championship.

His new born kid dies because of lack of that blood group(Sultan's bloodgroup O negative) in the hospital, and Aarfa leaves Sultan.
Heart broken Sultan also leaves wrestling and starts living reclusively. He works in small govt office, and all he has now is the dream of building a blood donation bank in his village so no one dies because of blood scarcity.

Than one day Amit Shad's Akash, comes to Sultan offering him a contract to fight for his Indian version of UFC, Sultan initially rejects but due to lack of money. Akash's show is suffering due to low rating, so his father had advised him to get an Indian fighter, so the Indian can get behind him and his show gets more success.
Sultan is than taken by Akash to trained by Randeep Hooda, and than the story is the usual underdog Sultan winning against all odds, eventually reuniting with Aarfa after he is almost killed in a fight. And in the end, they go on to have a baby girl and Aarfa also resumes her wrestling career.

nah you may have not liked Sultan, but Sultan was a decent product and even if it released after Dangal, it would still have seen successful.

It was not a something to be called boring like Tube light or a total garbage like Race 3.

This is basically a love story while Dangal is totally a different theme altogether...

Thank you for the synopsis Thugleader...Story is interesting but unfortunately I cannot stand neither Salman's face nor his acting...:(
