How is Kangana still getting work... She has basically burned all her repations in the industry. ... Every movie of hers is more abt controversy than content.. is she planning to becoming a one woman industry ? .

Btw, given sonu's statement, I'll say he too is unprofessional . .. walking out of a film when its near completion is not cool ... Is every director that he worked with 'competent' ? ..

Movie was completed. Sonu shot for his portions. Problem arised when Kangana apparently started having issues and wanted to reshoot the movie. First krish walked out and later Sonu coz he already allotted chunk of his dates to Simmba. Even then he offered the team that he would join Manikarnika shoot post Simmba schedule since he had to be clean shaven for Manikarnika and was right now in Simmba's look and it wasn't possible for him to shoot both simultaneously. Kangana then found a replacement in zeeshan ayub n informed the producers who accepted the decision. Now tell me who was being unfair n unprofessional?

Mostly rehash of other stories - https://www.masala.com/what-went-wrong-between-kangana-ranaut-and-her-manikarnika-director-krish-268671.html

Posted for bold which I haven't seen before.

The historical epic Manikarnika : The Queen Of Jhansi is in serious trouble. Apparently Kangana Ranaut's takeover of the project as director is not a temporary patchwork arrangement brought on because the film's official director Krissh got busy with another project. "He was eased out. Krish was expelled. She (Kangana Ranaut) gradually took over the project and the producers complied. She first muscled into the writing, then the direction. It came to a point where Kangana was telling the actors what to do. Krish is no walkover. He has directed many blockbusters in Telugu cinema and done historical epics like Gautamiputra Satakarni and Kanche. He was chosen to direct Manikarnika for his vast experience. How was he to know that he would be pushed out of the project? says a source very close to the film.'

Another prominent filmmaker in Bollywood says he isn't surprised by this nasty turn of events. "This is exactly what Kangana had done with Hansal Mehta and Vishal Bhardwaj. During the shooting of Rangoon she tried to muscle her way into the writer and director's chair. Vishal discontinued the shooting and gave Kangana an ultimatum to either stop interfering with his work or allow him to shut down the film. That's when she decided to back off. Hansal complied with all her demands and lived to see his film become a mess.

Coming back to the crisis on hand, a prominent actor from Manikarnika sighs and says, "The irony is Krish has shot an amazing film. What he has captured on camera is epic. Kangana has no business stepping in to add her two-bit.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has been riddled with controversies lately. Whether it be the constant delays or the mystery of who is directing the film. The latest controversy surrounding Kangana's film is Sonu Sood's untimely exit from the biopic. While sources close to Kangana suggest that Sood misused his friendship with director Krish, Sonu hit back at Ranaut questioning her competency as a director. As things get uglier by the day, Simran writer Apurva Asrani too joined the bandwagon and laid in his two cents on the controversy as he too battled in a war of words with the actress last year over writing credits of Simran.

Apurva tweeted, "A star hijacking a film & running down the hard work of crew member/s is the worst form of hara-kiri there is. When affected filmmakers cannot control this & instead put on a facade of a dignified silence', they allow a monstrous ego to go on a rampage & eventually kill the film." When Pinkvilla contacted a source close to Kangana about the whole controversy, they stated, "There is no logic to this whole mess. Will the studio blindly give Kangana the film and crores of money every day to shoot? All of a sudden she can arm-twist the producers to give in crores of money? It is their hard earned money too."

The source also added, "How can a director just move on when he is bound by a contract? Has anyone asked this logical question? Basically, when the producers saw the rough cut they were upset with Krish and were not happy. Hence Kangana was asked to take over. From a logical point of view if a director is under contract and is being paid by the producers then he has to reshoot if there are any changes too. But, they chose to let him go and not insist on him taking the reigns again cause they weren't happy. They then asked Kangana to step in. Only 20-30% of what Krish shot is being retained and the other portions are being reshot. The initial budget was around Rs 60 crores but the producers are ready to give in Rs 20 crores more for the reshoot as they trust Kangana. The unit is shooting in ND studios and will wrap up only by mid-October. How can Kangana blackmail the producers to give money every day for the production cost? This doesn't make any sense."
Talking about how Kangana is seeing to it that Manikarnika does not get shelved, the source concluded, "Kangana has also pushed Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's film that was supposed to start from September because the studio has given her the responsibility to direct and complete the film. Kangana had an option to either direct or let the film be shelved. She agreed and decided to lead the unit. Producers had full liberty to get a new director on board but they didn't. The action director, Nick Powell is called back to reshoot certain portions too."

We just hope this controversy dies down and Kangana Ranaut's fans get to see her play the fierce Rani Laxmibai.

Krish is a national award winning director and a lot of his films have got immense critical acclaim apart from doing well at the box office. I have no doubt that if Kangana ever works with Nolan, she'd still find faults with him and want to take over the job from him 😆

When Kangu PR version didn't go over well on Pinkvilla, 😆 it was time for Kamal Jain to use Pinkvilla to spread " happy families " version. So somewhere between a few scenes and 70% of the film will be directed by Kangana😉

Manikarnika producer: Kangana Ranaut is the best person to take over the mantle from Krish

Manikarnika's producer Kamal Jain stated that according to them, Kangana Ranaut is the best person to take over the mantle of director from Krish. He also shared that Sonu Sood's dates clashed with the rescheduled dates and that his Simmba look broke continuity.

The past few days have seen Kangana's next Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi amidst a ton of controversies. Whether it be the mantle of who the director of the biopic is or Sonu Sood's exit from the movie. Finally clearing the air about all these speculations in producer Kamal Jain who spoke about Kangana taking over to shoot the remaining portions of the movie and Sonu leaving the film.
Kamal stated, "The additional shoot of the film is presently underway at ND Studios at Karjat, near Mumbai. After the last schedule was over, we saw the line up of the film. On seeing it, we decided that apart from the patchwork, we also needed a few additional scenes. Once the scenes were written, we approached Kangana for additional dates. But Krish had moved on to his next project by then. Given how driven and creatively involved Kangana Ranaut has been on this project since its inception, we realised that she would be the best person to take over the mantle. Hence, there is no hijacking of the project and whatever decisions are being taken are with the full support of the producer and the studio. We have an aggressive production schedule ahead of us since we are committed to releasing the film on January 25, 2019."

Talking about the progress of the film, Kamal stated, "The shooting so far is going smoothly. Nick Powell is also on set designing some mind-blowing action shots to complement what has already been shot earlier."

About Sonu's departure from Manikarnika, Kamal shared, "While we managed to get matching dates from Danny Denzongpa, Jishu Sengupta, Ankita Lokhande and others, we got stuck on Sonu Sood's combination dates and continuity look as he has grown a beard for Simba. Hence, we had to let him go and Zeeshan Ayub now plays the character of Sadashiv."

Logic aur sense ki baat ho hi rahi hai toh koi ye bhi bata do ki why did the producers let Krish go? Chalo, they weren't happy. Then why choose Kangana to direct? What is their reason to choose an actor as their trusted director? How many movies has she successfully directed? What is the source of this trust on her? They will keep just 20-30 % of Krish's direction? You know what it sounds like to me? Kangana is not going to give Krish any credit finally and is making this excuse so that people know there's hardly any of his work that's kept. Kahan pe hota hai aisa? Producer doesn't like what's made, lets the director go and asks one of the actors to reshoot 70-80% of the movie.

It happens only with Kangana.
