It's relatively rare for SLB actress not to win awards for her performance. She didn't win any for Padmavat or Mastani. She was wooden and mechanical in both. She is also highly overrated in general.

I really think Deepika needs a break from SLB. Ranveer is now his muse, not Deepika.

Her character was feisty but also immature in Ram Leela, she did a wonderful job in that movie.

Her feisty character in Mastani fell flat, her character is shown to be bad-ass in the beginning when she goes on a eat with Bajirao but after turning into his wife, she gets sidelined.

In Padmavat, people literally only talk about her beauty. She is supposed to be the pretty queen. Except for the end scene, her character is so weak.

I think it's not Deepika's fault, SLB has given her half-baked characters. I hope Deepika gets another Piku kind of film.

Ram Leela was the only good role she got from SLB. The other two involved looking pretty and teary which any pretty face could have done with glycerine. Close to 0 real acting requiring role in either tbh.

She was smarter than the men though. She got that mystic guy killed so he couldn't do anything else and she saved her husband. Her husband came across like an idiot even she was like 'You should have killed him when you had the chance' And he was all 'Ethics, morals, blah blah blah'. As if Khilji didn't murder someone to get the power he had 🤔 And the almighty Khilji really thought she needed 800 maids? W*F did he think she was gonna do with that many? He should have known it was an army 🤣 So she was the least irritating character for me.

But I do agree that writing has been weak in all SLB movies. She needs to stay away from him. The only collaboration I wanna see is him producing a movie for her. She deserves some benefit considering how all her movies made profits for him.

As you should but with SLB he doesn't give a final script before shooting. He changes things while the movie is happening and a lot gets cut. So it's more complicated. I don't think she realised she could get screwed over when she signed on.

I saw some girl claim on twitter that her relative worked in the editing team and the original cut was more than 3.5 hrs long and most of DP's scenes were on the chopping board. Script-wise I can't figure out why it would be sooo long but considering she shot this for a whole year, there were probably other sides of Padmavati we didn't get to see? Anyway, after all this I don't think they'll ever collaborate again so that should be good news for others.
