Raj Kumar Hirani and Sanju's controversial life are the USP of the movie.
But Ranbir's acting will be key otherwise WOM will suffer.
Hence BO opening is on RKH+Sanju's story but film for long run depends on the content and Ranbir's acting.

ab Karni sena ne promotion kiya hota toh I wuld have given 90% credit to them...but unfortunately...VVC gave one controversial statement that Veeru was the first choice...and backtracked on that by saying ki without Ranbir there would have been no Sanju...ouch🤣...so controversy ki absence mein ...I would give more credit to Hirani and then Ranbir and of course the curiosity about SD...kya fark padta hai..as long as the movie is good and entertaining.

Opening is all about Hirani movie followed by Subject of Sanjays controversial life !! Ranbir has least to do with the opening but success of the movie will depend on how the movie is and how Ranbir carried the movie.

RK has to make the audience fall in love with him again.BO doesn't matter.

I have been saying this since BEFORE BV released.

The directors should see his commitment..His co-stars should want to work with him again.

Today,Salman Khan fans talk only about Sultan and Bajrangi Bhaijaan..and RK fans fall back on Tamasha.

RK's acid test is not the BO..or what the critics say.

Its those who pay money and watch in the theaters.

They have to shout-HE IS BACK!!!!

This post reminds me where is the option for Deepika in this poll? Somehow she was responsible for TWMR opening and success...I am sure Deepika would be found to be similarly responsible for Sanju opening and success too.

I feel like this will be similar to the MS Dhoni Biopic- people will come to watch about Sanjay Dutt's life. For most lay people, Hirani doesnt mean much, hes not Kjo, Farah Khan etc etc big name perosn that most know. Despite following this forum, I barely know much about him either.

People will primarily come for the juicy details of Sanju's life and then RK fans

The opening is mixture of all. Hirani+Ranbir+Sanju's controversial story. Also the make up artist did great job.

But total depends on two factors.

1. How good/bad movie Hirani have made

2. How good/bad Ranbir is able to pull this role

The final gross of the movie if success should be attributed to both Hirani and RK. Similarly if failure the blame should go to Hirani and RK both.

There are millions of fans for sachin across the world ! Yet his biopic is average at BO...but based on hirani's hype as a great director the opening of sanju should be credited to him only...
