Both Varun and Alia have raised standards and given performances of a lifetime with October and Raazi. I cant think of any recent performances that are on this level. National Awards for them should be a MUST.
I think Varun has outdone Ranbir's Barfi and some of the other good roles by others.Alia has no competition so she continues to dominated and shine :) Alia owns the female market right now. No competition whatsoever! Now with Janhvi failing it only strengthens Alia's position.
Okay. I thought Varun was great in October so I came to defend him. But saying he was better than in Ranbir in Barfi is such an exaggeration. Ranbir's acting in that movie was untouchable, it blew people's mind. With October, yeah Varun was good but there are many critics who found flaws in his acting and felt a more competent actor could've done wonders with that role. And as much I like Varun I have to agree. Ranbir portrays a dozen emotions all at once with just his eyes. Varun is not there yet. Maybe he will get there but till date he hasn't done anything that can be compared to Ranbir's Barfi.
