And I agree with @Iambest , Sonu Nigam was way better than all the singers in 90's.

You must be kidding. In 1990 Kumar Sanu was knocking out hit after hit after hit. He done so throughout the decade. Where was Sonu in 1990? Nowhere. Neither in 1991 or 1992 or 1993 or 1994 or 1995 or 1996. Didn't he have his first hit in 1997? How did he rule the 90s if he had his breakthrough 8 years into the decade. Soon shone throughout the 2000s. 90s was all about Kumar/Udit.

its not about who was on the top in 90's its about who was the best singer in singing variety of genres kumar and udit were strictly to sad and romantic playback singing its sonu who have shown variety even in his 90's songs and brw sonu first hit was agar asmaan tak mere hath jaate 1993 film meherban to acha sila deya bewafa sanam to barsaat songs 1995 and jeet of sunny deol abhi saans lene ki fursat nahi hai ...but then he started getting mainstream songs from 1997 as he shown his versatility with 2 different style songs , yeh dil dewana pardes and sandesi ate hain were the biggest hit of 1997, it is never about who rule for how long its all about who was more talented and kumar sanu right from beginning to end never sang something outstanding which make him stand different from others he sang repetitive tunes all his carrier, as i told that sonu nigam sang kumar sanu kind of songs in 90's then with every song he changed his style be it yeh dil dewana or akhiyon se goli mare , kahan raja bhoj kahan gangu teli , what is mobile number , to a song like satrange re which is difficult for udit narayan and kumar sanu to render as its not upto their range of voices to a song like ek din kahin hum do mele which is the toughest composition of nusrat fateh ali khan from film aur pyar hogaya to sonu's 90's pop album songs where sonu ruled back in days which were rage again out of zone of limited singers like kumar sanu to a song like ruki ruki thi zindagi from mast its just sonu's 90's songs and his 90's songs prove him better singer than kumar sanu for sure else he sang many songs in 2000 which is beyound kumar sanu vocal reach for instance sau dard hain or ajnabi sheher hai ajnabi shaam hai,,...udit narayan was a better singer than kumar sanu he also tried to explore his singing and sang hi range to low range but kumar sanu was struck in mediocre melodies of nadeem shravan never came out of his comfort zone ...kumar sanu got his time in 90's credit goes to his friend composers Nadeem Shravan , as soon as Nadeem shravan got out of business kumar sanu lost his fame in one interview of nadeem saifi with nadia khan he felt regretted favoring more on kumar sanu he later said no one came to me in my bad times

Its not always about variety, you can be versatile but not own the genre too.

Kumar & Udit dominated most of the 90s, every singer has their strength and weakness
some songs Kumar sung would not look good with Sonu singing them they have Kumar's badges just a few here for example

^Not at all, thats subjective. I feel Kumar's voice had a soothing effect AND had the booming quality that base that power in it too. So its all entirely subjective depending on your preference

i like kumar sanu but making him better than sonu nigam is not something one can believe because as i said sonu nigam have sang kumar sanu kind of melody songs like na milo humse zyada or chote chote raatien lambi hojate hai... and also different kind of songs too which is beyond simple melodiesof 90's 😛, Kumar was a limited playback singer who use to sing simple melody lyrically good songs and thats all about him and Sonu is a complete musician he have groomed his level with time his songs are not limited to 90's touch music but to any kind of music he says he even learn from new singers and new things from them

Because thats the type of voice you like soft kind of voices. So you prefer Sonu.
I prefer the manly type of voice with a bang in it, it's subjective just like "looks" are
