Bollywood debut with Dhadak, which is
directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced
by Karan Johar. If there was one person
who was the most excited to see Janhvi
making her way into Bollywood, it would
have been her late mother and veteran
actress Sridevi.
As Janhvi made her magazine cover debut
with Vogue and was interviewed by none
other than Karan, the filmmaker spoke
fondly about Janhvi and her love for her
mother.
Karan said, "As I interview her for her first-
ever cover, I realise she's a pro, handling
herself with a maturity that belies her age.
It's both, heart-breaking and endearing that
she talks about her mother constantly.
Kapoor is not what you expect. And this is
just the beginning of her story."
Earlier, when Dhadak was announced, Karan
had said, "At Dharma, we believe very
strongly in promoting new talent. A host of
first-time film-makers, technicians and
actors have begun their journey in the
entertainment industry from the corridors
of our company. I am exhilarated and proud
to present two sparkling new energies, and
new acting talents- Janhvi and Ishaan- that
will begin their cinema story with us. Also, I
am very honored to collaborate with Zee
studios on this ambitious adaptation of the
hugely successful and celebrated Marathi
film Sairat."
Post Sridevi's demise, Karan saw to it that
the shoot of Dhadak was a smooth ride for
Janhvi.
A source had said, "Karan was close to
Sridevi; he is also close to Janhvi now. He
understands that she will not be in a
position to work for a while. He has even
instructed the team to take it easy with her.
Having said that, Karan wants it to be a film
that Sridevi would have been very proud of."
Also starring Ishaan Khatter, Dhadak is
slated to release on July 20, 2018.
