Shoojit Sircar is said to be planning a biopic on Indian revolutionary Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O' Dwyer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. The filmmaker is keen to sign Ranbir Kapoor as the freedom fighter.
Those in the know tell us that Shoojit has had a word with RK, but since the actor is tied up with the shoot of Sanjay Dutt biopic, he is yet to give his nod. Meanwhile, Shoojit will begin work on a dark thriller with Varun Dhawan. The biopic on Udham Singh will go on floors next year.

The filmmaker says though the movie is light and comic, the issue they are dealing with is serious. "When I was reading it (the script) I thought these are the problems we have faced. It may be a light film but it's a serious issue of small towns. There have been instances where people who have gotten married have been separated...
