There are films that leave us with a message for life and Umesh Shukhla's directorial, "102 Not Out" is one among them. It's not always that we get to see a film that is perfect in it's every sense. From the story to the performances, from the dialogues to the songs; the film is a complete package of entertainment.
A Glimpse of the Story:
It's not always about living life, it's about 'loving and enjoying it to the fullest' and this is what forms the crux of the story that revolves around the lives of an old father (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and an old son (played by Rishi Kapoor). The duo teach us the beauty of small-small things in life and how important it is to have a positive outlook towards the most precious gift of God.
The film begins with a beautiful-mesmerizing song that narrates the tale of life and the story of Mumbai, India. It then processed with the classic entry of Amitabh's and Rishi's characters.
In an age of digitization and commercialization, we have forgotten to respect our relationships, we have forgotten to love unconditionally and to give with an open heart and the film teaches us exactly the same. That's why I call it, "the need-of-the-hour film.
About the Characters:
As mentioned earlier, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are the USP of the film. Their flawless portrayal of their characters have added to the beauty of the film. The two have recreated their magic on the silver screen and have proved that age is no bar when it comes to executing your skills. Take a bow Amitji and Rishiji.
Amitabh Bachchan plays Dattatraya Vakharia and Rishi Kapoor as his son, Babulal Vakharia. The two compliment each other so well that you forget you are watching the two superstars in a film. Their powerful performance will engross you to the extent that you will be confused if you are watching them on the silver screens or in real.
What we liked/ disliked about the film:
There is nothing that we disliked in the film. The story and the performances are the USP of the film. Songs and dialogues are like a cherry on the cake. At a certain point the film does get predictable but then it doesn't harm the entertainment quotient.
The film has been balanced very well between the entertainment and emotional quotient. There are times when you will shed tears and at the very next moment you will roll out laughing on the floors.
Over all:
"102 NOT OUT" is a need-of-the-hour film. It teaches us how small things can add a huge difference in our lives and how much important it is to stay positive and happy in life. The most important motive of our life: To Live & Enjoy Life. It's a refreshing, entertaining and enlightening family drama which is a must watch for the whole family together.
So this weekend, grab hold of your family members, Mamma, Papa, Bua, Chacha, Chachi and especially your cute Dadaji- Dadiji- Nanaji- Nanaji and also your friends who are like family and take them to watch this Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor starrer masterpiece "102 Not Out".
