I really hope Aamir or SS Rajamouli gets to make a huge, franchise-like series on the Indian Gods.

I mean, there are so many stories and so many wonderful plots that can be worked into such a franchise.

If they would make it ( be it Aamir or SS Rajamouli) I'd be so glad - as long as they did it justice. And Deepika would be an awesome goddess avatar.

I honestly believe Bollywood isn't ready for Mahabharata yet. Not from Aamir either way.

Mahabharata is a cultural text unlike MCU or DC. I don't think Bollywood is ready to do justice to Mahabharata.

I'm pretty sure they will base Mahabharata on BORI's editions and that's what makes it even more pathetic. It's not even based on Vyas' Mahabharata but on the critical edition of BORI.

And, as much as I adore Mahabharata, I believe the present mindset - of binary - isn't enough to truly understand Mahabharata. Applying Western code to a predominantly Eastern text is devaluing it and destroying its essence.

I hope this doesn't happen.

It seems doubtful if Aamir will take control on a subject like Hindu mythology.. in these intolerant times.. there is quite a bit of hate still being thrown over PK.
