Salman was convicted of killing two black bucks. It is the "two that makes me suspicious. It is usually impossible for a single hunter to kill two deer/reindeer/bucks. The second they hear a sound they bolt. The hunter has to have a steady lock on one animal to make a confirmed kill. Usually when two deer are killed, it is two hunters locked on two deer. I may have bought two kills if it was an accomplished hunter. From what I know Salman isn't a regular and prolific hunter either. So it seems to me like one other hunter is getting away.
One possibility is that each black buck was killed on a separate date and time. Another possibility is that they charged him with "two counts of poaching for killing one black buck. But the news reports don't make either seem the case. Maybe someone can clarify.
Why just aiding and abetting? I would say they should be charged as accomplices. Especially Saif, who I believe is a regular hunter and should be more aware of poaching laws. I also think the local guide who was acquitted should also have known the poaching laws. But the guide can be forgiven as being afraid of speaking up against celebrities.
