@Crystal - People have lots of opinions. Actors I fangirl about (like HR and Shahid), others can't stand. So it's fine if we disagree. I think Kangana was overrated as a star (now readjusted by box office) but I think she is a good actress and deserved at least one of those National Awards. If u are going to give a monologue or PR scripted interviews with Barkha n Rajeev, ofcourse u will sound more convincing. Just like Modi sounds convincing in his Mann ki Baat. Do u think he can handle a Rajdeep or Karan Thapar interview? No!

When she does it offscreen it is more appropriately called lying but the actions are the same. She embodies the character and says lines convincingly on screen and off - only the venue and stakes are changed. The acting involved in her interviews is even more impressive because, she may know what questions are coming, but at least some of it has to be adlibbed and she has to stay in character regardless, no cuts or do-overs.

I am a self confessed Hrithik fan BUT I am not blind, deaf and dumb. Hrithik is far less smooth off screen than Kangana which is why plenty of people still doubt him despite the fact that his interviewers DID ask some tough questions and Hrithik DID produce proof. Admitting that does NOT mean I don't think he was truthful and is a better person.

Finally, Kangana has been asked questions and she changes the subject, makes a joke, or starts talking about landscapes and poetry, etc, and she takes the questioner and listeners where she wants them to go. Sometimes she even changes the narrative completely and sells the new one with as much sincerity as the previous version. I am not saying it is a laudable achievement but I am saying she is very very good at it.

You said she's not a great actress and people only believed her because she was speaking alone on the stage. I am answering about her ability to act and other abilities and the reality of the environment she was speaking in, I'm not pardoning her for her many sins or releasing her from any blame because she is a good actress.

Lord knows, I am not a Kangana fan and have been calling out her lies for a very, very, very long time, much longer than you have been on IF in your current avatar. If you choose to believe someone of no talent and no consequence inflicted the damage to Hrithik privately and professionally that she has, fine, go for it. I personally think it is insulting to Hrithik to not recognize the skills of the opponent he was struggling against; if she really is less than nothing, then he really is a bumbling idiot - but IMO that isn't true. She acted and reacted pretty brilliantly if I'm honest. I remind you, from the very beginning her story was changing - she ditched him and he stalked her, she loved him desperately for 7 years and promised her marriage, the picture was outed as photoshopped the day after it emerged, there were articles giving Hrithiks side EARLY on, enough emails to show she was lying were released EARLY on - still people believed her, and believed her, and believed her. Anytime a lie was revealed, she regrouped and came back with an explanation or new improved version. Whatever response he gave, she twisted into a weapon against him. If you want to rewrite history, go ahead. I know what I know - she is clever, charismatic, and convincing. She is also either delusional or a pathological liar or both but that doesn't change the fact that she is clever, convincing, and charismatic. She fooled a lot of people for a really long time despite the fact that Hrithiks people were giving evidence against her from the very beginning of the public part of the tamasha. I know from the time and energy I spent here people still "felt " she was telling the truth LONG after it was clear to any rational observer she wasn't. Yes people are switching sides more and more now but that has more to do with her than anything. People got more and more tired of her going on and on and obviously using it for publicity instead of the heartbreak she originally claimed. Yes, Hrithik eventually went on TV and said what? NOTHING NEW. In the very first articles which leaked from his legal notice he said they had a purely professional relationship. The news she sent him thousands of unrequited emails was out long before. His lawyer had already given a statement that she has tried to entice him into a relationship. Hrithik didn't say anything new. He put a face to his pain, but that is about it. In no way shape or form am I saying she deserves a medal or even forgiveness for what she has done. But it wasn't dumb luck or merely the media. It was a clever, charismatic, convincing actress playing the media and public like a virtuoso.

@ANJS - well done you. I too don't think trying to understand why someone behaved badly is a bad thing. It doesn't have to mean you are trying to excuse their guilt. It almost always develops empathy in yourself which is never a bad thing and could mean helping the person stop behaving badly if you have the chance to communicate with them.
