Simply Rati-fied! - Rati Agnihotri

Drawing inspiration
Rati Agnihotri and husband Anil Virvani moved into this house 24 years ago. They courted for a year before tying the knot. "Since I started my career really young, marriage came as a refreshing break," she recalls. Rati's sabbatical lasted a lengthy 16 years. She made a come back with Rahul Rawail's Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi. The proud owner of this three-storey Juhu home says that she loves spending time at home.

For art's sake
The Virvanis are big-time foodies. They love cooking, eating and feeding others. Rati is a Punjabi while husband Anil is a Sindhi and both rajma and Sindhi kadhi top their list. "Earlier, I'd cook almost every day but now I barely get time to enter the kitchen," she says. Post Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Rati has been shooting for Sony's Kaajal. "I find television as entertaining as films," she claims. Apparently, Rati's biggest critic is her son Tanuj.

Blowin' in the wind
"I was a complete shopaholic earlier," she says. "Now it's a different scenario. Today, I'd never wear pink or red shoes," she laughs. She has mastered the art of impeccable dressing. She likes to wear capri pants and T-shirts for casual wear. "I love wearing salwar kameezes too, but saris are my all-time favourite,' she says.

Metallica
Rati says that her house was originally a seven-BHK house. "But I like large spaces. So, I converted four bedrooms into two," she says. Since theirs is a huge house they renovate it in bits and parts. "I can't afford to change the whole house at one go as it would be too messy. Also Tanuj's college schedule wouldn't allow that," she says.

Fine Dine
She disagrees with people who feel that after a few years of marriage, romance flies out of the window. "Anil and I still have pillow fights. We argue over a lot of things. We sulk for a while and then patch up. I guess, that's what keeps us going," she says. Rati is a self-confessed cleanliness freak. "When I see dirt around, I don't wait for the maid to take charge. I just start cleaning up myself," she smiles.
