The sudden death of actress and reality TV personality Shefali Jariwala on June 27 has stirred a growing debate around anti-ageing treatments, botox, and IV supplements. Known widely as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” Shefali had reportedly been consuming anti-ageing drugs like glutathione and vitamin infusions for nearly eight years.
While the exact cause of her cardiac arrest is yet to be medically confirmed, reports suggest a possibility that self-medication and unmonitored supplements might have played a role. Authorities are currently examining the dosage and contents of her IV drips and medications as part of the ongoing investigation.
Amid the speculation, yoga guru Baba Ramdev made a controversial remark during a discussion on NDTV. Without directly blaming the treatments, he used Jariwala’s death to comment on modern health practices. “The hardware was fine, the software was faulty. The symptoms were fine, the system was faulty,” Ramdev said.
He further added that today’s lifestyle choices are drastically harming the human body. “Humans have put too much pressure on their brain, heart, liver, and eyes. They consume in 25 years what should be eaten over 100 years,” he noted, suggesting that if one maintains discipline in food and lifestyle, ageing could be delayed naturally.
Ramdev also insisted that every cell in the human body has its natural life span and any interference in that biological process might cause internal damage. “If you stick to your original DNA, you'll remain healthy. Appearing young and being healthy are two very different things,” he said.
Shefali had risen to fame in the early 2000s with her popular remix video and later appeared in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. She became a familiar face on Indian television with her appearances in Nach Baliye and Bigg Boss 13.
Her untimely demise has raised serious concerns about the risks of unsupervised cosmetic and anti-ageing treatments, particularly in the entertainment industry. While the public mourns her loss, experts and health professionals urge for more awareness around the long-term impact of such interventions.
