Shabana Azmi is known for her strong views on various issues and for taking up for the film industry whenever the need has arisen as she's very committed to it. This time too when Deepika Padukone started receiving threats over her upcoming film Padmavati, it was Shabana who initiated a movement called Deepika Bachao first, and got a letter signed by top actresses, which was to be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to take an immediate action.

Shabana has kept a studied silence since then (after Kangana reacted to her letter and sent out a statement about why she hadn't signed the letter) and neither has the letter been sent. When we caught up with the actress and asked her why she hasn't responded to Kangana's statement and stringent comments since then, the usually vocal Shabana Azmi clammed up. "I am not talking about it. Isn't she planning to go forward with the Deepika Bachchao letter? "No comments. It's (the topic) absolutely beyond boundaries. 🤣

Shouldn't come as a surprise to any of us. So glad Kangana didn't sign this farce. 😵

Shbana is such a hypocrite. N y kangana should sign that petition? Did deepika ever spoke infavour of kangana anu or Kat?

how many letters even carry the weight to reach the PM..not many..

while every life is important..it would be a much genuine cause if shabana indeed pens it for someone who indeed needs it..since for a 100 issues we cannot send a 100 letters to PM but if we are sending one..make it for someone who really needs it

so many people..women..men..whose lives may be in danger..may be given threats but don't even have the source to ask for help..why not help them..for those who lack the resources to fight for themselves

padukone has as high security as possible..in middle of all this..that woman attended every possible award show..what not..clearly coz she had a kick ass security..does she really need this? is there not a single cause more worthy to pen to address the PM

While I am a fan of DP, This campaign seems totally OTT to me too.

Yes, The person in power threatening anyone openly is wrong. And that should've been the crux of the letter. Also the fact that the basic right of choosing what to create and watch, is being snatched away from us. And this is happening since quite a few years now. So it would've been better if Azmi made n propagated these matters in her plea, rather then basing it on DP and making it so dramatic.

True still don't understand how shabana came up with such campaign.. wouldve appreciated more if it the petition was on freedom of art...she made as if deepika is some small child who needs to be protected rather than a women who can take care of herself.

Deepika bachao campaign is an utter BS. Kangana will never sign it because she wants another NA. Can't offend BJP govt.

Even if Kangana didn't sign it what about the other signatories? Why isn't the letter out yet? I really doubt there is any such letter. Can't imagine anyone in BW having that much of spine. Only Kangana being a smart cookie made it a PR drama to gain brownie points from the ruling party for the next NA despite her disasters.

But don't u agree kangana did good job in those movies? All were different roles n she pulled them off with ease
