Honestly, I wouldve slapped the guy then and there... but i understand her ordeal and nightmarish experience... We need to make self-defense for women a priority in the country, only then the men will think twice before taking advantage of any women.

Don't bother reading social media replies to the News about what happened with #ZairaWasim . Publicity stunt, why not calling Police etc etc As usual, pure heartless Garbage. And people wonder why women don't speak up more often.

why are right wing woman filled with so much hate??

Jagrati ShuklaVerified account

@JagratiShukla29:1/3 Why #ZairaWasim's molestation allegations seem fishy and a mere Publicity Stunt? >This picture means nothing, it (putting foot on armrest) doesn't amount to any offense, let alone Molestation. >Why didn't she Complain to Cabin Crew, Confront Passenger, Request change of Seat?

3/3 It's wrong to shame the man accused of molestation by #ZairaWasim without hearing his side of the story She & her mother think crying @instagram instead of taking action makes sense.I think that's a publicity stunt If Molestation did occur, why hasn't she filed an FIR yet?

Twitter Reactions:
1.Travelling alone as a woman was always a nightmare. Every single flight. There's the leg spreader, the elbow into your breast, the hand that slinks in from the back around the side. As one has grown older thankfully, it has stopped now. Glad Zaira Wasim spoke up.

2.Some facts about Zaira Wasim - Vistara Incident
1.accused male pax in the starting told the crew he's going off to sleep and not to disturb him 2)Zaira started yelling at the accused pax only during the descent of the flight or the final path of the flight.
3) THE CABIN CREW WERE ALL SEATED IN THEIR SEATS. Cabin crew couldn't move because it's mandatory to have no movement during the final phase of the flight as seat belts are on 4)Zaira had not bought this to the notice of the crew till the flight commenced the descent

5) after Landing crew enquirered about the incident and asked Zaira and her mother if they want to file a complaint and they denied at the airport 6) airline yet to contact the male accused pax 7)all cabin crew have been summoned for inquiry

The incident is quite appalling and highly condemnable. If this is the case with zaira wasim, a celebrity kid then imagine the plight of a normal girl. Glad zaira decided to expose it which may help others to come forward and report such acts.

Any crime or harassment against women should be dealt with swiftly and effectively. The laws of the land are less severe towards the molestation charges. The laws should be made more stringent to treat it as a heinous crime and punish the perpetrators.

She should file a proper police complaint. Accused should be arrested and barred from air-travel. There should also be an enquiry about why the cabin crew didn't help her at the right time. Why they have not revealed the passenger's identity till now?

Some of the social media reactions to this clearly show the demoralising mind set of people refusing to acknowledge the brutalities against women and labelling it as her publicity stunt and what not. As usual victim shaming asking why she didn't complaint, why she didn't call police etc..And people wonder why women don't speak up more often. More importantly why should they correlate her controversial political background with her sufferings at the hands of a sexual pervert?

I have a funny yet sad story to tell.

On my way from Abu Dhabi to New Delhi, I sat on a plane (I was travelling alone) surrounded by men. I suppose this is because many workers from India go to the UAE alone for work, which is why they return alone too. There were almost no women on the plane.

I sat in a row with other men. They began acting inappropriately with me. Spreading their legs, touching me "accidentally (obviously not really accidentally), drinking and invading my general sense of space. I was freaked out (this was a few years ago so I was only 18/19) and too frightened to say or do anything. I just prayed we would reach our destination as fast as possible.

Then a young man walks up, sees my pain, and snaps at the men to behave themselves. Asks them if this is how they act around ladies. Told them to show me respect. I was like wow, a real life hero!

Turns out, this man had his own intentions for helping as well. He sat near me afterwards (which I was grateful for) and initiated conversation with me. I didn't mind, I thought he was harmless because he had just saved me from those other men. Slowly, however, the conversation turned intrusive. He began asking me about my personal life and wanted to know if I had a man, and if I didn't, when I wanted to get married, and what I looked for in a husband. He was belligerent. Although it was different from the other men, he too was invading my personal space. I felt uncomfortable and harassed. What right did he have to ask me all this? I didn't even know him! I felt like he was objectifying me and reducing me to a commodity - something that can be bought or sold, in the guise of marriage. It was awful.

After the plane landed he followed me out - he simply wouldn't leave me alone. He was really just as bad as the other men. I was honestly too scared and paralyzed to speak up for myself. I just couldn't believe this was happening to me, although in my own subtle ways I had tried to end the conversation with him for a long time. I was aloof and gave one word answers. Still, he relented. In the end, he had to leave me alone, not out of choice, but because he had no choice - I had someone waiting to take me to the diplomat counter and he had to go wait in the long line designated for normal travellers. Boy, that was a relief!

So moral of the story, anyone that tries to pick apart my actions and reactions, and blames ME for the way the men around me act with me, can go f**k themselves. I feel Zaira's pain.

The end. 😊

What an ordeal...

Honestly, a lot of these men from the Indian subcontinent need lessons in social cohesion. They just have NO CLUE how to behave like a decent human being. The 'akeli ladki khuli tijori hoti hai' mentality needs to be made obsolete. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

Because of these reasons, I am never allowed to travel to the Indian subcontinent on my own by my parents.
