If the PM is so interested in courting the western world that he refuses to attend parliament and instead spends more time abroad, then he should be ready for more scrutiny in domestic matters by ill formed western media... Better to control the law and order then so the image doesn't take a thrashing abroad

India is rising in Moody...World bank and IMF eyes...

Indians don't give a hoot about an opinion in liberal newspaper like Washington Post..even Americans don't give damn about WP except Starbucks sipping liberals from America...

I don't understand why everyone is getting so defensive on this thread. It's not like what's written in the article is fake... half the stuff is true.
No matter how bad WP might be ... it still has readers... thousands of people around the world must've read this article. India already has a bad image around the world and now this. How much more embarrassment is this country gunna have to face on an international level because of few illiterate groups.

Bigotry and ignorance of WP overpaid and lazy journos. Complete distortion of facts and culture.
What business do they have to interfere in our internal affairs? Has India spoken on their gun culture or sexual harassment? Prejudiced and hegemonic mindset 🤢
Shut up Washington post.

Lmao. Are you serious? Washington Post or infact any media outlet need to have zilch knowledge about so called Hindu culture to know how utterly backward and disgusting it is to treat a woman like this. Countless men asking for a woman's head is wrong for ANY culture.

India could become the most celebrated nation in the world tomorrow for its GDP or whatever but that's no progress if the men in the country have no fear threatening a woman so openly.

Padmavathi issue is not something which government can be proud off, it shows how weak or baised goverment is.

Lol. You MISSED the point entirely. DP or SLB filing a case or not is secondary. The fact that the men in the country think they are so above the law that they can threaten to burn a woman alive and state a price for it is the problem here. There should be fear in the hearts of men before even considering something like that forget openly speaking about it. And the GDP was brought up to make another point which you ALSO you missed. A country could flourish in business and finance and what not but if men in a country are openly throwing threats on a woman thats not real growth and that's definitely not a country anyone would be proud of. First that army man's s**tslaming of Vidya and now this. No man fears the law anymore. And that's shameful.

not giving a hoot is not something to be proud of especially when you SHOULD be giving a hoot, Genghis Khan never gave a hoot, neither did Hitler, neither rapists or terrorists, having a chip on your shoulder and being proud of it isnt something to be happy of that oh wow man look see i dont give a hoot am too cool for it.

This is a serious problem giving open threats like this so easily it has to be looked on and be sorted out
