Javed Akhtar Bears The Brunt Of Supporting Padmavati

One after the other threats, complaints and PILs are being registered in the wake of the controversies surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati. The uproar is intensifying instead of slowing down with every passing day. The fate of the movie is still hanging by a thread with its release date being pushed back.

While many celebrities have kept mum, Javed Akhtar has taken a stand in fighting against the storm, and it seems he is bearing the consequences now, as a complaint has been registered against the renowned lyricist, according to CNN News 18, for hurting the bravery of the Rajputs. The case has been registered in Sindhi camp police station, Jaipur.

While talking to Aaj Tak earlier, Javed Akhtar had said, "The Rajputs and the Rajwadas never fought against the British and now they are taking to the streets against a film and a filmmaker. All these ranas' rajas' and maharajas' of Rajasthan were serving in the courts of the British for 200 years. Where did their Rajput honour and valour go that time? They have become what they are since they had accepted to serve the British.

In response to his statement, Shri Rajput Karni Sena's State President Mahipal Singh Makrana has said, "He (Akhtar) has lost our respect. From now on he is banned in Rajasthan and if he dares we will thrash him on the streets. Rajputs and Rajwadas have sacrificed their lives and he is mocking our history and saying we were serving the British. He does not deserve Padharo Mhare Des' treatment anymore. He speaks a lot in literature festivals and next time we are not going to allow him to even come to Jaipur and speak, as quoted by TOI.
