The Central Board of Film Certification has refused work faster for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati has been mired in controversies ever since its announcement. Protests against the film are becoming more fierce.

Even after the makers of Padmavati deferred the release of the historical drama following nation-wide protests on Sunday, the voices against the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum-opus refused to die down a day later.

Now, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has refused to expedite the process of certification of the film. A leading news agency today tweeted, 'Turning down plea of #Padmavati makers, CBFC said that the movie will be reviewed and certified as per set norms of following chronological order of all applications.''

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had returned the film to the makers because the application didn't mention if Padmavati was a work of fiction or based on historical facts. The makers had then held a private screening of the film for some select journalists who consequently stood up for the fact that the film doesn't hurt any sentiments and in fact upholds Rajput pride.

CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi criticised the private screenings and had said, "Disappointing that the film Padmavati is being screened for the media and getting reviewed on national channels without CBFC having seen or certified the film. This compromises the role of systems and balances that are part of a functioning industry. It's myopic to treat the certification process haphazardly to suit convenience.

Bhansali's upcoming film's release has been delayed due to protests from several groups like Shri Rajput Karni Sena and Kshatriya Mahasabha. The film was due for release on December 1.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.

Glad to see CBFC enforcing rules for a change! 👍🏼

Other productions, don't take your own time to film until a week prior to release and expect all approval right away. 😃

Follow the process!

CBFC has been helping producers and director by approving movie on time inspite of last minute application. there has been many allegation of favoritism, i hope they make changes and follow 68 days rule for everyone.

Allegations of favoritism

"In 2015, an audit report had accused the CBFC of favoritism. The report had mentioned instances where a few films were certified in a matter of 2-3 days after application while some films took more than 100 days for certification, though the rules specify a maximum time limit of 68 days. Rumours are rife that certification process for movies with a big star cast is faster than for the ones without them. The report also mentioned that the secretary to the chairperson had issued certificates to two movies that were earlier rejected by the examining committee etc."

It was audited by Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) they found lots of favortism for big stars and big banner and even rating where changed from A to U/A (172 movies) and U/A to U rating (166 movies). Some member of CBFC are corrupt which was exposed by CAG.

I bet BM was one of the rushed entries. He was filming until the last minute then too. 🤓

That's probably why PV team thought they could hand it in so late. I bet its commonplace in BW to hand in films so shortly before release (?) CBFC is probably "enforcing" the rules now just as a tit for tat for the media thing.

if SLB can play dirty then CBFC can also play by rule (for a change) 😆
