it's not shahid who is miscast, it's to put ranveer on a pedestal . shahid in kaminey was as chiselled as anyone and didn't come across weak at all. even in haider he was not slim. He has been in movies with priyanka who is tall and never looked tiny, besides kaminey, even in teri meri kahani, he was quite brawny as the character Javed.

this is slb and all his showcasing of khilji/ranveer. i was very anti the rajasthan hoopla but was awaiting deepika's and shadid's first movie together forever, but now am becoming a little wary of the what we will see. was so disappointed with bajirao mistani where there was not much of deepika but more of the oiled skin show by ranveer. and not from the first trailer it looks the same all that dramatic music with ranveer's overacting and prolonged shots. and deepika and shahid got such quick shots and nothing that lingered in the trailer.

They've diminished him themselves by portraying him this way and that's not Shahid's fault. Some of this could have easily been changed - more regal darker clothes, a smaller sofa that makes him look bigger proportionally and leave out the silly looking step stool.

So much of how we see an actor is related to the setting and blocking and framing, not just their own acting or physical body. Seems like they're deliberately making him look slight and small and almost girlish to contrast with and emphasize the powerful angry Khilji.
