I never stand up. My friends are like don't create a scene, just stand up for god's sake. But I am sorry, my definition of patriotism is different - be a good citizen, pay your taxes and keep the country clean and respect others.

Some of the people who stand up flout the rules, spit on the walls, use vulgar language in public and what not. So are they more patriotic than I am? May be or may be not. How many of these people truly stand up if they are at their home when they are not being watched by anyone? I am anyway not interested because it isn't a competition as to who is more patriotic.

Playing the national anthem in a cinema hall is one of the dumbest decisions taken by the govt/SC. Why not play the anthem in a restaurant before we order a meal? Why not play it at office every day? Why is not played at the Parliament every day? Why just cinema halls? So absurd.

It was a mature reply from Vidya Balan. I much respect her and agree with her perspective. It doesn't make sense to play the National Anthem in theatres but it should still be respected when played.

I dont see the logic of playing the national anthem in cinemas only. If the idea is to unite and instill a sense of pride then they should play it at all public places like roads, malls, entertainment parks, courts, offices, schools etc. Maybe play it every hour to be consistent.
If they dont do that why selectively play in cinemas?

Such superficial patriotism makes my blood boil.
What is the point of respecting a piece of cloth and a song if you fail to show kindness to your fellow countrymen and be a responsible citizen? Moreover patriotism should come from within..it can't be foisted upon one.

But yes agree! National anthem should not be sung in cinema halls!
