Padmavati is touted to be the most expensive Hindi film. The stakes are high. I wouldn't know what to say about the commerce and what the returns will be but one thing that I can say with confidence is that turning the film into a 3D version as well is a good idea.

I have just seen the 3D promo armed with my 3D glasses on critical eyes. It's an exhilarating experience with the glorious colours unleashing magic in the battlefield of mind caught between the classic warriors baying for blood.

The war sequences look spectacular in 3D and the impact is truly grand. Padmavati is a perfectly Indian film for being showcased in 3D as it's as traditional as it gets. The dresses, the costumes, the jewellery, the music, the dances...it's representative of Indian culture and history. Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are all set to be a part of the History of Indian cinema.

Prime Focus has done a fine job in delivering a world class 3D experience as far as the promo goes. Let's wait for the experience of the entire film. I hope it will live up to the promise of the Spectacle that Padmavati is being billed as.

The hype around Padmavati' is at its peak, and we can't blame you. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one filmmaker who brings about a different grandeur to every story he tells. Further, the film boasts of a stellar cast, including rumoured lovebirds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone who've earlier created magic on the big screen.

However, keeping in mind how 2017 has been for Bollywood, one might be a little sceptical. A number of big budget films flunked, some of them unexpectedly. Further, we've probably reached the phase when mere presence of big names doesn't woo the audience anymore. At the same time, the Padmavati' team underwent some unforeseen and uncalled vandalism, in the name of communal pride.

Reportedly made with a massive budget of as much as Rs 180 crore, will Padmavati' taste success? We spoke to trade analyst Girish Johar, who gave us a detailed insight. (Also Read: The other queen in Padmavati': Meet Anupriya, who plays Ratan Singh's first wife)

"It would be a bit too early to predict a first-day collection of the film. But December 1 is a restricted holiday. I assume it'd at least cross Rs 25 crore on day 1, he says.

Below is a brief account of how things might unfold at the box office for Padmavati' according to the trade analyst.

He also reveals the film has probably cushioned over Rs 100 crore by selling satellite and digital rights already. Since it's a solo release, the film might enjoy over 3000 plus screens, at least until its competitors hit the screen.

A theatrical collection of around Rs 135-150 crore and above will secure a successful run for Padmavati'. At the same time, Girish emphasises on overseas collection as well.
