Varun & ARK to play bro's in Shiddat also stars Alia, Sridevi - Page 2

It was difficult to contain the excitement when it was announced that Karan Johar is producing a film starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sridevi and Sanjay Dutt. Reportedly the film is titled Shiddat and it will be directed by Abhishek Varman, who last directed 2 States starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia. Nothing was confirmed though. There were just rumours that Sanjay and Sridevi have been approached, but they haven't given their nod yet.

But thanks to fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who just confirmed that he is working on a period film. While talking to Firstpost, he revealed, "I am working on a period film starring Varun and Alia, Sanjay Dutt, Sridevi, Aditya Roy Kapur, so that's a big cast. He also spoke to Pinkvilla about the same and revealed some more details about the film. He said that it is set during the partition period, specifically from 1945 to 1947. "I am very excited to be starting this new period film for my favourite Alia, it is a period film of a period I feel close to, it is during partition between 1945 to 1947, said Manish, who will be working on the clothes of the star cast.

Word has it that Sonakshi Sinha is also a part of the film, but nothing has been confirmed yet. So far we know that Varun, Alia, Sanjay, Aditya and Sridevi are on-board for this.

With Shiddat, Sanjay and Sridevi are collaborating on the big screen after 25 long years. Their last film together was Gumraah.

The idea of this movie reportedly germinated from Karan's dad, the late Yash Johar. According to Mumbai Mirror, it was unfulfilled dream, which Karan wanted to complete, and which is why he handed over the baton to his protg Abhishek Verman.

This is definitely very exciting. Although Manish has confirmed the film, we are waiting for an official announcement by Karan himself soon.
