The weak plotline is to be blamed. Imtiaz's grandiose ideas are never translated well onscreen save for JWM, the sole exception since I believe he doesn't have a clarity on what exactly he wants to showcase. He should be banned from making films IMO.

I honestly can't even blame SRK because it's not like he isn't seeking out good work with reputed directors but there is some kind of script comprehension problem that is working against him. I will wait to see the BO verdict of this one because I don't believe it will be a flop per se but it seems to be a clear critical failure which is a disappointment. Also, just to add this, SRK and these young actresses' pairings are not working at all. In rom coms, the main thing is that you need to buy the pairing before anything, especially in breezy, typical ones like JHMS seems to be. Anushka and SRK simply do not work in this scenario. He needs to work with older actresses or act in films that doesn't require typical romance like the delightful Dear Zindagi.

When the movie becomes hit the superstar takes all the credit

And if even after being in the industry shahrukh cannot pick a wise script then we must blame him for being dumb enough to not recognize what works for him n what doesn't.

True. I dont know what was Rishi age but I've read that Divya was around 17 (some even say 16) when she was shooting this movie 😕
