Jab Harry Met Sejal has taken the fourth best initial of the year. It comes in the good category alongside films like Tubelight and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Bahubali - The Conclusion was a bumper opening while Raees was in the excellent category. Its been a dull year as far as openings are concerned as the films coming out just don't look have the big canvas and are generally content driven.
Bahubali - The Conclusion had the canvas, action and brand value while Raees had the feel of an action film especially for the western and central regions. Below are the morning occupancy of the top ten films of the year. If two films are on the same mark then benefit is given to the wider released film.

2. Raees - 50% (3400 screens)
3. Tubelight - 37.5% (4400 screens)
4. Jab Harry Met Sejal - 37.5% (3200 screens) APPRX

6. Jolly LLB 2 - 27.5% (3300 screens)
7. Half Girlfriend - 27.5% (2400 screens)

Jab Harry Met Sejal has taken the fourth best opening day of the year which is pretty much the same position as its opening occupancy. Its done similar occupancy to Tubelight just the numbers are lower due to smaller release. Its been very dissapointing year as if we take out Bahubali - The Conclusion only two films are above 20 crore nett and even they are just about above 20 crore.
The films have been there with two Shahrukh Khan films and one each for Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. In fact the flow is probably better in the first 7 months or so than previous years but none of these films have had a big canvas or are big films in the true sense of the word. Below are the top ten highest opening days of the year.
