Is it fair to say every female oriented movie fails bcz of misogyny?

One thing I noticed is really all over Internet(not just IF), that female movies which do not make much are because of misogyny and not because they are poorly made movies which not only lack entertainment but also are poor in content. While people go around like why just bad female movies fail while bad movies of male become hit. I think answer is pretty clear, bad and boring movies fail regardless of the gender. A movie can be technically be bullshit but if it is entertaining at least you don't feel totally cheated.
For example, I love Vidya Balan but Begam Jaan was utter trash, boring, poorly scripted and fairly horrendous storyline. I read some comments in facebook about how Indian audience hates strong women roles. hence Begam Jaan fail. While it is true, many section of Indian males have complex towards independent women, but a poorly made movie failure's blame to be thrown solely on Indian audience and its apparent misogyny is quite wrong.
I mean why always blame our audience for failure of female oriented movie? Especially when the movie was bad. I mean people are like Khan movies are bad still become hit, but there is a difference between being a badly made but entertaining escapade, and a badly made boring movie. I would rather watch a poorly made yet fun movie like Ready over a poorly made and boring movie like Noor. Does it mean I am a misogyny flag bearer who hated Noor because it has a strong female character/female solo lead. No I didn't liked Noor because it was bad and also boring. What does IF think about the question on "Should misogyny of Indian audience be declared the reason why female oriented movie while conveniently ignoring its appeal. quality and performance". Discuss, give points, don't fight.

I have never watched a female oriented movie in cinema. lol

Reason is that an actor has fans in men and women. Actresses do not have a fan base either from men or women. It is just the way it is.

Actually when you said look at top grossers list and I saw it. PK, Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bahubaali are excellent movies which will be remembered as classics in future years. Sultan is a good movie too, it is not bad movie . Dhoom 3 yeah that was bad.

Also if I take adjusted gross HAHK, DDLJ, Gadar, Border, PK, Dangal are great movies. Yeah Raja Hindustani is odd one.

I think the point is that people already gain idea as to jow the movie will actually be by looking at the promo, and the promo for both begum jaan and noor was bad, even vidya's acting was ott.Mostly trailers or the promotions create hype and appeal of any movie, like piku seemed an interesting movie from the trailers so it worked! If the trailer will be bad or uninteresting, sab yahi sochenge ki theatre me paise kyu barbaad kre, torrent se download kr ke dekh lenge..😆

Nah, a bad movie is a bad movie. But misogyny controls the production and template of movies in India. Out of say 50 BW movies , few male centric movies can be utter trash and fail repeatedly , yet BW will NEVER stop churning them out. You could check the role of women in these movies .So this is why misogyny will never go out of BW and the onus on audience comes because it is so conditioned to not notice this pattern.
A woman centric movie has be good movie, entertaining not just to be successful but to sustain the trend of better written role for women. Thats misogyny.

It also reflects on how we treat the female actors- say with Vidya, she usually is doing movies with roles written for her. Most might fail but audience traction for her movies , her own fee , roles offered will decrease with each such movie while her male counterparts say like Shahid might survive longer even with bigger failures and also charge more.

Misogyny of audience in not noticing how women are treated in movies in terms or representation , characters and participation is more due to conditioning , hence our reluctance to accept it.

Misogyny exists in BW and outside it...

But we cannot put the blame on misogyny when we are dealing with films of the quality of Begum Jaan or Maatr.

Personally I think the days when crappy films of superstars used to become hits are over..

Salman is probably the only star right now who can make a bad film perform well at the BO e.g. PRDP

yup that is the reason aamir's movies are such massive hits, coz they are content driven, appealing and entertaining too.. Sallu and srk's masala movies collection has been slowly dropping too. I think audience is turning smarter now !
